  • Does the game actually establish that the player-characters are mercenaries, specifically? Imperators II(Talk) 11:31, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
    • The game's box uses the terms "take on the roles of bounty hunters, smugglers, and mercenaries" and the game rules notes that the game is "about scoundrels and mercenaries". However, it specifically notes "the goal of Outer Rim is to become the most famous (or infamous) mercenary in the galaxy." as well as noting that "Fame represents... how much other mercenaries fear and idolize you." The only way to win the game is accumulating more fame than other players, so feel like mercenary is the best term to use for the PCs of the game. I also feel that bounty hunters and smugglers are specific TYPES of mercenary, and a scoundrel is not a mutually exclusive term that is more appropriate to use in describing HOW business is conducted, rather than WHAT business is conducted. Let me know what you think! Manoof (he/him/his) (talk) 12:18, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
      • I see; I suppose it's just that the more general meaning of the word "mercenary" (as opposed to the meaning referring to hired soldiers) is at play here. Imperators II(Talk) 13:28, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
