"A caranak is an aquatic fowl native to Endor. It is notoriously difficult to domesticate."
"…a wild goose?"
"Just so.
"
Jagged Fel and Tahiri Veila[1]

Wild geese were birds which made proverbially-elusive prey. The phrase wild goose chase was a slang phrase used in the galaxy, which referred to an ultimately pointless activity which distracted someone from a desired objective.[2] When Javis Tyrr was sent on a fruitless search at the Indigo Tower, Tahiri Veila referred to the operation as a "wild goose."[1]

Behind the scenes

"Wild goose chase,"[3] which the Star Wars expression,[2] and the term "wild goose," are based on,[1] is a real-world idiom.[3]
