- "Following the defection of the Imperial Army infantry units of Wazta (see Imperial Communique #2734.19g), an unspecified number of Imperial Navy vessels and their crews have deserted."
- ―Nasda, in a communique to Imperial Military Sector Commanders
Wazta was a celestial body[3] located in the Wazta system, a part of the Wazta sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] At some point by the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, multiple infantry units of the Galactic Empire's Army at Wazta defected, after which several Imperial Navy starships and their crews deserted, as well. The defections of the Wazta units were addressed in Imperial Communique #2734.19g, and General Nasda later mentioned them in a communique sent to all Sector Commanders of the Imperial Military, as well. That communique was subsequently included in a compilation of Imperial documents made by Rebel Alliance historian Major Arhul Hextrophon for Alliance Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.[3]
Behind the scenes
Wazta was first mentioned in the 1989 Imperial Sourcebook, written by Greg Gorden and published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Wazta system, and therefore the celestial body, in grid square J-18.[2]
