In 2 ABY,[2] a member of this species was present at Canto Casino and Racetrack on the planet Cantonica.[3] Much later, in 34 ABY,[4] another nearly identical member of this species, Vylla Tendeil, could be found within the same location.[1]

This species made their onscreen debut in the 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson.[1] They were originally designed by creature concept designer Tim Napper and titled "Flatfish 01."[5]
