"Not enough fur here to yield a berry pouch, but here's a meal fit even for me, the king of the Duloks."
―Vulgarr[1]

Vulgarr was the leader of a band of Duloks on the Forest Moon of Endor. The gray and brown creature was pompous and arrogant, claimed to be the king of all Duloks, and had particular antipathy towards the Ewok creatures that also inhabited the moon. Vulgarr once led his Duloks to kidnap the children of Bright Tree Village, but was defeated and cursed to become a tree by the Ewok shaman Logray.

Biography

"Plant him ankle deep in the soil of this meadow. He needs no tending. He will grow into a twisted tree as ugly as the evil within him. If a single creature finds refuge in his branches, this miserable demon will finally have served this world."
―Logray[1]

A male Dulok, Vulgarr was the leader of a band of Duloks on the forest moon of Endor during the Galactic Civil War. Vulgarr's Duloks at times found themselves at odds with the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village, with whom the Duloks were distant cousins. Under Vulgarr's command, his band kidnapped a young Ewok female named Malani, which Vulgarr blamed on a dangerous creature of the woods. Vulgarr's deception led the bulk of the village's combat-capable Ewoks to go off into the forest in search of Malani's kidnapper, leaving their children behind. Vulgarr then led his force of Duloks against the village, smashing through a group of Ewoks largely consisting of women and elderly, and kidnapping the rest of the Ewok children with the intent of eating them in a grand feast.

Vulgarr and his party proceeded a distance through the forest with the children in a wooden cage, fending off a leadership challenge from a Dulok called Crooked Tail along the way, before deciding he could not wait any longer and ordered his crew to prepare the feast. However, after stopping Vulgarr and his Duloks were attacked by a young Ewok named Teebo—Malani's brother—who was quickly followed by the rest of the Ewok warriors from his village. Teebo freed the children from their cage, but Vulgarr took the young Ewok hostage and attempted to escape. However, Vulgarr did not make it far before a massive Grudakk creature, sympathetic to the Ewoks, captured him and allowed Logray, an Ewok shaman, to place him under a spell that placed him into a catatonic state. Logray ordered Vulgarr to be planted into the ground where they stood, where he would eventually grow into a tree on that spot.[1] Over time, the tree that was once Vulgarr became known as a warning to all Duloks to stay away from Ewoks.[2]

Personality and traits

"What?! The king of the Duloks sailing the treetops on wings of sticks and strings? Not likely."
―Vulgarr[1]

As was customary of his species, Vulgarr prided himself on his rudeness and dishonesty, and held considerable antipathy towards the Ewoks—whom he saw as little more than a delicacy. A pompous creature, Vulgarr had grandiose ambitions and a self-regard to match, styling himself the king of all Duloks. Gray and brown-furred, Vulgarr fought with a gnarled rootwood club.[1]

Behind the scenes

Vulgarr appeared as the primary antagonist in The Adventures of Teebo: A Tale of Magic and Suspense, written by Joe Johnston and released in 1984.[1]
