History

Velvet was used to make clothing such as women's dresses.[1][2] It was also used for pillow cases[3] and couches.[4] Padded velvet was also used to cover the palm of the serving hands at the end of the manipulator arms on Lovolan's R-10 household droid. The velvet was slightly sticky to improve the adhesive traction when serving drinks.[5]
