Vela was a pilot who served during the High Republic Era. Around 232 BBY, Vela's ship broke down while visiting a desert planet. Jedi Master Zia Zaldor Zanna sent Jedi Initiates Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs, along with pilots Nash Durango and RJ-83, to rescue Vela. After RJ repaired the ship and Vela thanked them, the Ganguls' cruiser Rathtar's Revenge appeared in the sky. To escape from the pirates who were trying to steal their ship, Vela boarded their own ship, while Nash and the others boarded the Crimson Firehawk. Vela seized the opportunity to escape thanks to the Firehawk's distraction, and managed to escape from the pirates.[1]
