Varonat was a planet located in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories, situated along the Ison Corridor. It was a steaming jungle and adopted home of the Morodin species.[3]
History
The Morodins colonized the planet in 26,053 BBY. The descendants of these colonists ensured the survival of the species, which went extinct on their original homeworld.[4]
Human colonists from the planet Salliche came to Varonat in 252 BBY, founding the settlements of Tropis-on-Varonat and Edgefields-on-Varonat. These settlements never grew to more than a few thousand people, however.[3]
During the Clone Wars, Varonat was plagued by pirates. A force under Ki-Adi-Mundi and Anakin Skywalker was dispatched to deal with them in 21 BBY.[6]
After the Battle of Endor, several Krish under Gamgalon discovered that the fermented juice of Morodin-fertilized aleudrupe berries could be used in place of tibanna gas in blasters. They covered their operation with a Morodin-hunting safari, but the smuggler Talon Karrde, investigating the operation, wound up destroying it within a few years.[4]
The planet was later directly represented in the New Republic Senate.[5]
