The vanguard of the Fifth Fleet[4] was a fleet group within the Republic Navy's Open Circle Fleet.[1] It was under the command of High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The fleet group participated in the Battle of Yerbana and then split its forces; one detachment was dispatched to help the Mandalore resistance in the Siege of Mandalore, while the rest[2] participated in the Battle of Coruscant,[1] tipping the balance in the Republic's favor.[3] The fleet group consisted of at least five Venator-class Star Destroyers.[2]
