Biography

"I need a favor...for the good of the Empire, or its people, or whatever you believe in. Either way, innocent people will get hurt if you can't help me."
―Valance Serth, to a spacer[2]

Valance Serth was native to Corellia. He was the son of a member of the Corellian Security Force. After the Battle of Yavin, he owned a protocol droid named C-3TC.[1]

In 1 ABY,[3] Serth discovered that the Black Sun criminal syndicate was intending to take the opportunity of a deadly outbreak of Ourim Flu to make money. Black Sun planned to taint a major shipment of medicinal spice to addict the sick people to their chemicals. However, Black Sun quickly found out that Serth had unveiled its scheme.[2] A short time later, Valance Serth had to travel from Corellia to Naboo where his droid, C-3TC, was waiting for him.[1] Black Sun was unable to find Serth on Corellia but the criminals tracked C-3TC to the Nabooian city of Moenia. They interrogated the droid who was eager to disclose everything they wanted to known about his master, including his planned trip from Corellia to Naboo. Black Sun promptly set up an ambush and attacked Valance Serth's shuttle in Corellian space. Serth was hurt while crash-landing in the wilderness of the planet Talus but he survived. Black Sun henchmen immediately pursued him on the planet.[2]

Meanwhile, on Naboo, C-3TC was worried because his master never arrived in Moenia. He eventually requested the help of a group of spacers who accepted to help him to find Serth. The spacers questioned Selan Ellison in the Moenia Starport, Naboo, and then Amarent Loren of the Corellian Port Authority in the Tyrena Starport, Corellia. They finally discovered that Valance Serth had crashed on Talus and decided to search for him. Fortunately for Serth, the spacers found him at the very same time than Black Sun henchmen and were able to eliminate the criminals.[1] Valance Serth was grateful for the rescue but he was worry because there was no much time left to stop the Black Sun. Once again, the spacers accepted to help. They attacked a Black Sun camp in Shadowbrak Ridge where the tainted spice was processed but it was too late to prevent the vessel transporting the spice to take off. The spacers soon launched into Corellian space and intercepted the Black Sun convoy. They attacked the criminal starships and succeeded in destroying the transport and the spice. The victorious spacers later came back to Serth who asked a last favor: wipe C-3TC's memory to prevent the droid to provide any information that could harm his master. The spacers later returned to Moenia where the droid was still waiting for his master and commanded him to run a memory wipe program. C-3TC obeyed and eventually forgot every memories of Valance Serth.[2]

  3. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
