Utilitech was a droid manufacturing company that partnered with GoCorp to produce the RO-series childcare and nanny droid. Although GoCorp was primarily a repulsorcraft manufacturer, it happily provided smooth and reliable drive systems for Utilitech's service droids. Accordingly, the uni-wheel drive system and chassis of the WA-7 waitress droid was used as the basis for the RO-series, which proved a lasting success for the two companies.[1]

Behind the scenes

Utilitech was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2016 magazine Star Wars: Build Your Own R2-D2 33, which was published by De Agostini.[1] The company originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 1993 Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game supplement Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook, which was written by Michael Allen Horne and published by West End Games.[2]
