The Utapau Security Forces were the Planetary Security Forces for the Planet of Utapau.
Description
The Utapauan Security Force (USF) was the primary military organization on Utapau, a planet composed of independent city-states.[4][1] The USF was the only part of the government that remained active at all times, getting involved with visitors only when they posed a threat to the entire planet.[4] All ranks of the USF were drawn from the Pau’an,[1] a native species of Utapau that represented the public face of the planet,[5] while the Utai,[1] another native species that comprised Utapau's working class,[5] carried out the armed forces’ more menial and technical roles. The USF standardized the training and equipment of Utapau’s warriors, forming an effective fighting force. The USF maintained spacious stables for its cavalry, housing Dactillions and Varactyls in specialized stalls and storing armaments in dedicated racks and storerooms. Massed formations could deliver coordinated fire from behind shield walls, supported by snipers armed with blaster rifles such as the Zenoti Arms HB-9, with most of the USF’s equipment supplied by Zenoti Arms.[1]
Utapauan warriors wore blood-red, multi-layered garments of heavy cloth reinforced with armor plates, which were originally made of bone but were later replaced with blaster-resistant metals. They carried traditional shields with two-pronged cutaways at the bottom that could lock together to form shield walls. The standard weapon of the USF was the Utapaun bident, which combined a double Vibroblade for close combat with a blaster for ranged attacks.[1]
History
During the Clone Wars, the USF defeated General Grievous’ droid army in Pau City.[1] When the Confederacy invaded Utapau, the homemade USF Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers were destroyed[4], and the Utapau Skyforce was forced into hiding in Utapau’s natural caverns or in deep space.[6] During the subsequent Battle of Utapau, the security force, led by Senin Vant, resurfaced and deployed P-38 starfighters and dactillions against the Techno Union Mankvim-814 light interceptors.[6] Following the battle, however, the Galactic Empire fully occupied the planet, and the USF’s remaining stock of weapons, armor, and equipment was confiscated and destroyed.[1]
Behind the scenes
Members of the USF were computer-generated and carefully matched to the texture and look of the practical performers.[7] the Utapau Security Forces were designed by Aaron McBride during the production for Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[8]
