Earth References

Moved to Talk:List of references to Earth in Star Wars except for this one part:

  • Your List of references to Earth in Star Wars|Earth References page is awesome, Silly Dan :-) .... --Azizlight 06:44, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Books with two editions

This would overwrite your work somewhat, but what would you say to the suggestion that WEG sourcebooks which were produced in two editions without major changes in content should be merged into one article rather than two? There would be room in the article for the 1st and 2nd edition covers and infoboxes, and it would make citing sources a bit more straightforward. What do you think? — Silly Dan 13:59, 1 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I have thinking about it while making the 2nd edition Galaxy Guide articles. A merged article should specify the contents difference, and I can't tell the differences properly, I only have the second editions except for the GG1, so I leaved the edition I don't own as stub to be completed. I think it would be ok to merge showing 2 infoboxes, but would be better to first have available the table of contents for each of the editions I leaved a stub. --Thinortolan 14:18, 1 Dec 2005 (UTC)

WOTM

Once again congrats on being voted this month's Wookieepedian of the Month. And by the way, the vote was created from your contributions to alien species and many other things over the last few months. There's usually a delay. -- Riffsyphon1024 20:06, 2 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • Yeah, it just means I have less chances to go around saying "I'm this month's WOTM, and you spelled annihilation wrong", "I'm this month's WOTM, and your article needs sources", "I'm this month's WOTM, and this is a new obscure alien species", etc. 8) — Silly Dan 22:56, 2 Dec 2005 (UTC)

2 BBY? %)

Why did you choose this particular date? - Sikon [Talk] 17:43, 3 Dec 2005 (UTC)

"Are there other Canadians here that we can give the honour to in January, so the Dominion can go three-for-three?"

Well, not to toot my own horn, but... ;) TIEPilot051999 05:34, 4 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Spinners

Yeah, they're an extremely obscure, rather small detail in the films, but an interesting piece of trivia nonetheless! Adamwankenobi 14:14, 4 Dec 2005 (UTC)

thanks

Huge thanks for fixing language in my articles :D :D :D

very happy SkywalkerPL

copyright stuff

thanks man. Although i was in a process of adding text, your interest in this subject have proven the loyalty and dedication undertaken by this site. Thanx.

My compliments sir!

Thanks for the revert. I was so busy doing some other stuff I didn't even notice it had happened until you changed it back. Thanks for being on top of things--DannyBoy7783 02:19, 14 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Question about policy

Are to list all the books in the series, like the Young Jedi Knights or Junior Jedi Knights as well in a character's page? —Mirlen 19:09, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Only if the character actually appears in them. (This is one reason I can think of for insisting on making sure each novel in a series is individually listed — say a character appears in book 1, 2, and 3, is absent in book 4, and reappears only to be killed in book 5 and appear in flashback in book 6. You wouldn't want to just list the name of the six-book series.) — Silly Dan 19:48, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

No Problem

I just forget I was log out! hahahaha, im ok thanks for asking. O! i forgot im also Canadian too, nice to see both of us live in Canada :). And I will enjoy being a Wookieepedian and continue to do my part to make this a great web site for all of us to read. --Star Wars dude

  • We're taking over, bwa ha ha, etc. 8) — Silly Dan 03:48, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey Silly Dan I changed my account from Star Wars dude to Darth Tader. I hope that you visit my new account.

Vandals

I just joined but I have noticed a few vanalizations here...how do you revert it back? Aeon1006 04:46, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Go to the history section, and pick a past version that wasn't vandalized. And Silly Dan, you really should consider signing up for admin status. -- SFH 04:48, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
    • Is that a nomination, SFH? 8) I'll have to think about it. — Silly Dan 04:50, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

I just noticed that the Article AA-1 Verbo Brain has been either been Vandalized or just created(There is no history was it just created sorry can't spell)

Thank you....I will do what I can to help out against the Vandal Aeon1006 05:06, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

  • You're welcome! Only he's gone now. This guy really didn't stick around too long, even before being blocked. Perhaps his mother told him it was time for bed. I know I'm getting drowsy...8) — Silly Dan 05:08, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
  • It's funny, in my fisrt day as admin i've been keeping an eye out for vandalism all day, and as soon as I step out for a coffee, the one vandal of the day attacks :-) --Azizlight 05:14, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
  • That is good. OH well thanks for the help again Aeon1006 05:18, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Space Units and MGLTs and G's, oh my...

As far as i know, there is no valid system for converting these speeds. There has been some limited progress made in calculating conversions here, but so far it's all really just guesswork. The results I've seen are good enough for converting a RPG ship to an X-wing Alliance modification or converting an X-wing ship to a RPG, but it's arbitrary and subjective. So I've been leaving those fields blank when we don't have a solid number. —Darth Culator (talk) 04:05, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

It turns out the best way to change your name is to just start using a new one.

  • I didn't actually think it'd be that easy. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks Dan.--Jones

Datestamp

Mucho gracias. I'll just pull my q from the talk page, cause it doesn't really go there.--The Erl Erl 18:05, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanx for the advice Silly Dan on posting pics.

Fair use

Hey, I'm checking it out with some fellow editors. Nothing yet; I'm also looking it up on Wikipedia. Squall Deckiller 03:50, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Here's what Wiki says:

"Brief, attributed quotations of copyrighted text used to illustrate a point, establish context, or attribute a point of view or idea may be used under fair use. Text must be used verbatim: any alterations must be clearly marked as an elipsis ([...]) or insertion ([added text]) or change of emphasis (emphasis added). All copyrighted text must be attributed.

In general, extensive quotation of copyrighted news materials (such as newspapers and wire services), movie scripts, or any other copyrighted text is not fair use and is prohibited by Wikipedia policy."

Re: 223?

Hm... The first time, it looked like it was talking about a type of cruiser versus a specific population of them. --Esplin 03:05, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

  • OK, that explains it. Thanks! —Silly Dan (talk) 03:45, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Grievous Article Debate?

OK, maybe I'm just ignorant, but what is the supposed "ongoing dispute" with the Grievous article? Because if its about what I think it is, then there really shouldn't be any debate at all.TIEPilot051999 06:41, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, it's just the dispute over the title that's at issue. —Silly Dan (talk) 11:52, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me! I thought that's what the problem was. I didn't want to believe it, though, because its really stupid to have an ongoing debate about that. It's about as stupid as the debate over whether to call the Battle of Coruscant seen in ROTS the Second Battle of Coruscant, and I remember how well that happened...TIEPilot051999 16:17, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Hey, soon as it's settled, I'll read it over again and probably support the nomination. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:03, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Gurdun to DMR

I placed Gurdun under the DMR with the hopes of eventually de-specifying that category into one for Imperial scientists. Just a heads up on my reasoning. --SparqMan 04:29, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Ah, I get it now. Thanks. (I guess Obo Rin and Dr. Raegar would go in there too, though the former was an independent contractor.) —Silly Dan (talk) 04:40, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Vandal

There is a persistent vandal messing up Bordok. Please ban his IP range. RMF 01:01, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Wait, I just realized you're not an admin. My apologies (I honestly thought you were, you should be). RMF 01:03, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Got him. - Sikon [Talk] 02:28, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I nominated you on the RFA page; I hope you don't mind (FWIW, I was unaware that self-noms were the norm around here, I'm more used to Wikipedia's method). I think you would make an excellent admin, but if you don't want to for any reason I'm sure you could just remove your nomination. RMF 20:22, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll have to think about it. But like they say at the Academy Awards, it's an honour to be nominated....8) —Silly Dan (talk) 21:06, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Editing Other Users

If i did, I really didn't mean to. It was actaully a test to see if it would -actually- do it. And if it did, Wikicities needs to make that impossible, yanno? --Catis 03:49, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Wouldn't that take a while?

Recent Change to "Did You Know"

I noticed that you deleted the recent addition to the "Did You Know" template, citing its "unsourced" status. That information actually comes from the ATOC DVD commentary over the scene where Obi-Wan and Jocasta discuss Kamino's deletion from the archives. TIEPilot051999 23:31, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Oh, I didn't know that. Add it to George Lucas and Jedi Archives, then. (Did You Know is supposed to be for new articles, technically, but if you wanted to add it there too, I don't mind.) —Silly Dan (talk) 23:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
    • I don't see the need. Like you said, Did You Know is supposed to be for new articles. Just wanted to point out that it wasn't fanon nonsense.TIEPilot051999 23:36, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Re: VfDs

Deleting them. The anon who made them had no idea what he was doing and was vandalizing other pages as well. Kuralyov 03:13, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Wookieepedia:Requests for adminship

  • Just wanted to let you know that you are on the nominations for adminship, and already have seven votes (including three admins). -- SFH 00:25, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
    • As I said above, I'm thinking about it....—Silly Dan (talk) 00:35, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
  • You really should. You're great at this and I think you should be one.
