Welcome from Riff

Silly Dan, welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wookieepedia. I hope you like the place and choose to join our work. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Community Portal talk page or ask me on my Talk page. May the Force be with you! And I just want to make sure that all the articles that you will write are not word for word from those West End Games Books. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:53, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • They shouldn't be (in addition to being obvious copyright violations, they would contain irrelevant game stats and take way too long to type in. 8) )Silly Dan 02:38, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Agreed on the game stats, because those are considered non-canon by LucasArts anyway. -- Riffsyphon1024 02:46, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Weequay

I was looking at the starwars.com Databank entry on Weequays as an outline for a better Weequay article, and in the process saved it by accident. Here it is, if you'd like to use it for a basic structure: [1]

Vodran kajidics

WhiteBoy put up a request for sources on the article kajidic. I added the source for the information I had added, but I don't know where your information about Vodrans comes from. If you wouldn't mind adding the appropriate source to that article, it would be appreciated (I don't doubt you, I just thought I would bring this to your attention so that it wouldn't go unnoticed by the one who knew). – Aidje talk 14:44, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Sourced. -- Silly Dan 02:46, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Thanks. I figured it probably came from one of those big alien sourcebooks you seem to love so much. :-) – Aidje talk 02:51, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Navcomputer.com as source

Hi Riff: I don't think we should list nav-computer.com as a primary source in our articles, as it's not an official site. (That's why I removed it from the Kathol Sector article, replacing it with the RPG books which described it.) We should keep the "sources/references" sections for official publications.

On the other hand, it's a good resource, and it'd probably be a good idea to put relevant nav-computer.com links in as external links (maybe with a template, similar to how we do things with the databank?) -- Silly Dan 01:08, 30 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Galaxy Guide Titles

Since I think you're the party who set the precedent for titling the Galaxy Guides with a hyphen between title and subtitle instead of a colon, I though I should let you know I've retitled them to match the punctuation that the Galaxy Guides themselves use on their spines (a colon, or colon before hyphen, in the case of Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens - Enemies and Allies). jSarek 11:31, 1 Jul 2005 (UTC)

  • Yeah, not sure why I didn't do that in the first place (every time I put a reference in, I used a colon and had to change it on preview). Thanks. -- Silly Dan 11:34, 1 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • Actually, thank you - I stopped for a moment to write a change in the Talz article, and when I finished most of what I had left to change was already fixed. Thanks for saving me a lot of work. :-) jSarek 11:48, 1 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Silly Dan: message from JustinGann

I have read Cestus Deception and the dashta eels actually are sentient, but the sit is kind of complicated. Dashtas are a sentient race, but some of their babies are born as sorta "duds" that are not sentient. These babies are given by the Dashtas to the other Cestian peoples, whom use the non-sentient "dud" babies as the Force-sensitive brains of the JK droids. But the more fully developed dashtas are every bit as sentient as humans, perhaps more so, although this is a closely guarded secret from the galaxy at large.

  • Ah, OK. Thanks for clearing that up! (PS: please sign messages on talk pages with ~~~ or ~~~~ to include the date -- it's easier to figure out who's who.) — Silly Dan 00:30, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the help getting Mosep started

I've been wanting to fill in some of the blanks on this site. Thanks for all your help.

K'Kruhk's Hat

Thank you for adding that section to the K'Kruhk page. I thought about doing it myself when it was first mentioned on Talk:Palpatine but I didn't get around to it in time. May the freakin' sweetness be with you! :-) -- Darth Culator 00:56, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • If only we could consult the hat for advice on the Palpatine edit wars....help us, freakin' sweet hat, you're our only hope. — Silly Dan 03:34, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • The Hat told me the best solution is the "Old Republic records" idea. You have already said it yourself: "Since the vote has swayed towards 'no question mark', this information says 82 rather than 84, and no one's raised any serious objection to McEwok's suggestion that we add a BTS note saying 'it's not clear how much of Palpatine's background might have been fabricated by Darth Sidious', I propose we do that and archive this talk page." -- Silly Dan 16:21, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC). We should have done that already... --Master Starkeiller 19:51, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
      • Hey, I'm not an admin. I'm willing to wait until one of them logs on and makes a decision. (Should point out I said edit wars - this last one is just one in a series. I blame the Sith. 8) ) — Silly Dan 19:54, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
        • Of course you should blame the Sith. You should blame them for starting the war in the first place. This edit war is about the age of a Sith! *Winks*--Master Starkeiller 19:58, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Forgot password

S.D., I forgot my Password, so I am creating a new account called wattamb3000.

  • You know, I think there's a way to get the site to email you a new one. — Silly Dan 22:28, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game

  • Thanks for taking on the challenge of straightening this out. I thought about it, took one look at the amount of work it would take, and decided I would let it slide since no one else seemed to notice. I commend you on your work ethic. :-) jSarek 07:05, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • Yeah, it would've been nice if I had actually checked the cover of my books before citing them... 8) — Silly Dan 11:24, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Thumbnails

How do you put pictures into thumbnails? By the way, I'm the user that wasn't putting the lightsaber pictures into thumbnails. But I registered. When I try to put the pictures into thumbnails, it says Missing Image. How do I put a picture into a thumbnail without it saying that?

I am registered now as FistoFan94.

Re: Message from SillyDan to SOCL

Someone noticed my attempt to use Chicago Manual of Style. Sorry about that, just a habit. No problem, I'll hold off on it. Thank you for alerting me, I appreciate it.--SOCL 12:12, 17 Oct 2005 (UTC)

"Objective categories"

I saw your comment on the main page history. I couldn't really think of a better descriptive phrase for it, but if you do, then add it to the page. Cheers! Adamwankenobi 05:55, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Sequel trilogy

Of course! The morons over there kept trying to get it deleted! Adamwankenobi 23:22, 24 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism

I have found some article vandalism on the article Flim. I want to try and restore it, but am not sure how to do that without simply punching everything in line by line. I was hoping you might be able to help me out and perhaps fix the article. By the way, is vandalism supposed to be reported to someone?--SOCL 04:42, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)

  • I can take care of it. If you want to fix my edit later, go right ahead. I just figured I'd be of help.TIEPilot051999 04:45, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)
    • I'm not sure if that was addressed to me or SillyDan, but that sounds cool. Do you have to do it line by line?--SOCL 04:46, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)
      • It was addressed to you. And I just did it to the best of my ability. SillyDan can do it later if what I did is not up to snuff.TIEPilot051999 04:53, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)
        • I just replaced my text with the text from the last pre-vandalized edit. If the biography table is needed there, then he'll have to do it, because I don't know how.TIEPilot051999 05:02, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)
          • Sounds cool, I just didn't want to see the article die after a relatively cool-looking article, ya know?--SOCL 05:05, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)
  • Glad you sorted it all out while I was offline.... 8) — Silly Dan 13:14, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)
  • I'm still curious: Is there a procedure one follows to report vandalism? And how does one recover from such a thing? Does one have to go line by line to restore it, or is there a simpler way?--SOCL 01:24, 30 Oct 2005 (UTC)
    • Easiest way to do it: (1) go to the vandalized article, (2) click on the "history" tab, (3) click on the last non-vandalized version (which is marked as the date of the last edit you want to keep), (4) click on the edit tab at the top, (5) edit and save as normal, marking it in the edit summary as a revert. — Silly Dan 01:50, 30 Oct 2005 (UTC)
      • There is a simple way to do it. Starting from viewing the butchered article:
  1. Click on History.
  2. Click on the date and time of the last unvandalized version. This will show you how that version looked.
  3. From the old version of the article, click on Edit.
  4. You will see a warning that says "WARNING: You are editing an out-of-date revision of this page. If you save it, any changes made since this revision will be lost." Since this is exactly what you want, click on Save page. This will restore the old version of the article without all that mucking about trying to copy wiki code. – Aidje talk 06:42, 30 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Proper name

I want to add an article on the "Bomb Squad Troopers" from Marvel Star Wars 56 , not sure if they are already added in some other Stormtrooper sub category.I checked but can't find them.As I believe they only appeared that one time to my knowledge. And Not really sure if "Bombtroopers" would be their proper name, but a later lettercol calls them by that name.Any chance you can help me with their proper name or if they are added already as a different name.I added a pic of one of them from the issue to help. One of them was even called by his name, Sgt. Vollot. thanx. sniktawt 03:20, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Gundark

Hey SillyDan! I saw your request for a gundark article on the requests page, so I went ahead and started one. I can't believe it hadn't been created yet! Anyway, feel free to add or edit :) --Culix 06:02, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

SillyDan

thx, but be sure to thank Jaymach, since he scanned many of the pics;)JustinGann 02:37, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Well I was gonna say not to bother thanking me...but he has already lol. More than happy to do it, as I said over on my own talk page. If anyone ever needs any pictures of...anything...feel free to leave a message on my talk page and I'll try to get it to you in a day or less. --Jaymach Ral'Tir 02:50, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Holiday special

Yeah, I've removed all of the red links now, and added in the images. It looks to be featured quality on here, so I will nominate it. Adamwankenobi 08:16, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Behind the magic

Dan, why are you placing ABC, CBS, and such in the behind the magic category? Is that suppost to be a category of things having to do with the behind the magic CD's or what? Adamwankenobi 16:15, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • See Category talk: Behind the Magic. — Silly Dan 16:16, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)
    • OK, I see. Interesting name. Adamwankenobi 16:18, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)

RE: Shadis Magazines

I'm not entirely sure whether or not they were licensed, but I'm setting up a tag that can be applied to them (thanks to SparqMan that will reflect this. There were several issues with Star Wars material, however, and I actually have 2 of the articles scanned in. If there was any way to send you them I'd be more than happy to do so. All my contact details are on my user page. :) -Jaymach Ral'Tir 01:50, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Forgot to mention...it's WEG D6 material. :) And no problem. -Jaymach Ral'Tir 02:24, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Help with images

You seem like a knowledgeable guy, Silly Dan. Could you tell me how to upload images to Wookieepedia? Ty 05:16, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Interrupting VFDs

Hey Silly Dan. Even if a VFD nominated article has become an obvious choice for deletion, please do not interrupt the VFD proceedings—including the removal of a VFD notice. Thanks. --SparqMan 23:37, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)

No worries. I realized that after checking the history. --SparqMan 01:39, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)
