Hey!

Hi just wanted to make an edit. --User:Mr. Yoda

  • You could do that here ;-) RMF 23:34, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Infoboxes

  • I honestly don't know how to properly use the template (I've been here from the start and still haven't figured it out, I can be quite dense sometimes). Whenever I add it in I can't seem to figure out how to edit the data for the individual ships--thus, I've always done everything manually. If you know how to properly use the high-level infoboxes, please let me know. Shadowtrooper talk 19:15, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
    • Oy! I'm terribly sorry, I just figured it out! Thanks for pointing the issue out to me though. I'm adding in that I just got your message. Thanks again for the help, I'll definitely be putting thought into the infobox layouts for future updates. Cheers! Shadowtrooper talk 19:33, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Well, I had given thought to individual templates as well. The problem with that though, is that it makes a crap load of pages. While I'm not worried about space, I am worried about managing it all. For now though, let's go with this individual template thing. If it does get to be too much, we'll figure something else out. As far as the Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Vehicles|Vechicles Project goes, that was created for all vechiles. Since no one else jumped on that like they did with the planets, I sorta just forgot about it. I'm gonna fix the project up with the new changes/ideas. Let's move this conversation over there as well. Shadowtrooper talk 03:12, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Congrats, I love those infoboxes! Bravo! --Master Starkeiller 23:49, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
    • Thanks, but I really didn't do much. I simply adapted a template from wikipedia and converted it for use here. Shadowtrooper is the one who setup additional infoboxes (and color schemes) for spacecraft, ground vehicles, and aquatic vehicles (you can see them all Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Vehicles|here, though it's still a work in progress). Glad you like 'em though ;-) RMF 00:07, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I just started a unified discussion here, so we can all work together in one place. Please join in! —Darth Culator (talk) 13:59, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Please don't modify subst-generated infoboxes directly. Instead, change the source and replace the main table with it. What you need is change all {{sll}} templates with {{sld}}. - Sikon [Talk] 02:02, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

New infoboxes

Thanks. Nice infoboxes :). Ah, okay. Sorry, my mistake *blushes*. I'll go fix my mistakes. —Mirlen 06:02, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

  • *Salutes RMF* Yes, sir ;). By the way, what kind of infobox would you place Danni Quee in? —Mirlen 06:05, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
No apologies needed about that post thing. —Mirlen 06:08, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
    • Thanks. —Mirlen 06:11, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Roles/class

Looking at the ground vehicle infobox, I think we should have the general class (Walker, repulsorcraft, wheeled, tracked etc.) in the class-box, while the military definitions go in the role-box. Hope you don't mind if I start changing them like that. :) VT-16 12:06, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Macs

Hey, thanks for the note. I've played with the interface on a Mac just long enough to have difficulty coming back to Windows when the Mac was ripped from my fingers (er, returned so I could get a MacBook Pro instead). I'm sure there are plenty of things that I don't know yet, so I certainly appreciate your offer of help. – Aidje talk 21:34, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Haha. I'm trying to get through tagging all the planets, then I will stop and help update them. And I'm pretty much recovered from the appendectomy; I'm not gonna let that slow me down anymore :P. Later, RMF 01:41, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Instead of tagging them as requiring a change, why not just replace them with the new templates? --SparqMan 06:30, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
    • I responded to Sparq via AIM, but I might as well answer this if anybody else wants to know: by tagging them, articles that need to be updated can be categorized in a central location; allowing others to help. RMF 06:44, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Infoboxes.

Hey, I noticed that you've changed the infoboxes to have the "|" at the front of the line instead of the end. Just wondering, what change does that make, because I don't see any. Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:59, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Sorry. I had been going through the categories organizing things. I had seen you put up several of your subpages for deletion before, and thought you might have forgot those. Help

Quick, I need your help. Please help me update Template: Species and Template:Diversity Alliance character infobox. I have tried and I can't seem to get them right at all. Its so frustrating and currently, the Species Template is in a real mess. MyNz 04:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Thankyou very much for updating those templates. Your help is so appreciated. Without you, life would be much harder for us. MyNz 04:46, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

War infobox

First of all, nice user page! Thanks for shifting the war infobox to the right. I have put it into the Mission to Kejim. Are you able to make it a little bit thinner, so as to match the main box? And is it possible to put a box around it? --Eyrezer 01:57, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment. I did both, it should match the other templates in terms of width and it now has a box. RMF 01:59, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I started adding it to some of the battles but it is causing problems with the pics on some. Have a look here to see what I mean. Any ideas? In some the width is changing too... --Eyrezer 02:17, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I prefered having it under the main infobox, but if it means it will affect the article pictures etc, then I guess it is best to place it at the bottom. I had placed it on the Empire Reborn article itself and it looked good under the govt infobox. At the mo, it obviously doesn't work where it is. I think the original idea had been to replace the previous/next boxes in the battle infobox or to integrate it. Would that work? --Eyrezer 03:08, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
That looks great. Thanks for all the hard work --Eyrezer 03:28, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
A couple more queries. :o) I added those boxes to the Empire Reborn campaign battles. Placing it at th etop means it no longer has an effect on the pics which is great. On a couple of the pages though, the width between the two boxes is different: Kejim, Cairn Installation, and Alzoc III. The same happens on the Empire Reborn page. I thought it might be because some of those pages use the mission template rather than the battle template, but that wouldn't explain Alzoc III. Do you know why?
Yes, it's because I had to adjust the campaign template to match an infobox with a 300px image. If you change the images on those articles to 300px (though I'm not sure that you'd want to), the 'boxes will match up. I'm not sure what the best solution is for this, because making many of those images that large would leave them pretty blurry. RMF 03:58, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

The second question is just out of curiosity. The hide/show option for infoboxes, is that automatic? Thanks --Eyrezer 03:49, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

No, it's not automatic, it's part of the code. I can remove it, if you want. RMF 03:58, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I think I'd rather it didn't have the hide option. I changed those missions and they look okay. On the Empire Reborn article, I changed the main pic t0 300px but that problem still occurs. --Eyrezer 05:22, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Okay. I removed the hide, and reworked the temp. The problem is that the campaign template won't work properly if the infobox is stetched – as it is when the image gets wider than the infobox. If you adjust the image widths to around 290px, you should be fine. For example, look at Mission to Cairn Installation now. RMF 06:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Okay. Thanks very much. I think I'll re-open the discussion and see if I can promote them for toher conflicts. --Eyrezer 10:47, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi RMF. Could you have a look at this template for a User:Eyrezer/Three-way War|three way war I made for an upcoming article on the Nagai-Tof invasion. Are you able to make the Beginning/End line split equally into two halves? --Eyrezer 04:34, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

It looks like Sentry already fixed it. Sorry for the late response, I've been a bit busy lately. RMF 06:14, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Adamwankenobi

Ask "a link to the past" (the user who was mostly involved with him) and see the truth about Adam. He REALLY vandalized the page George Bush writing Doody Pie repeatedly. And he also vandalized many other pages. He used sockpuppets like TheAlternateReality, QuantumAdam, George Lucas, and ILoveToEdit. Check the category "Sockpuppets of Adamwankenobi" on Wikipedia. He is editing under the name "The Wookieepedian" because his previous account, "Adamwankenobi", was banned. So, since Checkuser rarely fails, Adam is trying to hide the truth, by saying he isn't Darth Incest. He should be banned from SWFanon. Poor boy. JimmyCrackedCorn 19:14, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

How is any of this germane to his actions on this wiki, however? What you say may or may not be true, I don't have the time or the inclination to investigate. I reverted your edit to his userpage because it could be construed as vandalism, and also because his userpage is also *his* space. What he chooses to put there is up to him, within reasonable limits naturally, but is certainly not a bulletin-board for comments such as yours. RMF 19:43, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Moon Template

Hi RMF, can you please add more content into the Template: Moon. It is so short compared to Template: Planet. The Moon Template needs to include diameter, coordinates and orbital position. Please! MyNz 00:34, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

I added 'diameter' and 'coordinates', but I'm not sure what you mean by 'orbital position'. It's not on {{planet}}, is it? What exactly do you mean? RMF 00:58, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Diversity Alliance

Can you please help me improve the article of another minor government the Diversity Alliance. I have added lots of imformation into it though it doesn't have style and there are not enough images. What should I do about it? Should it go under improvement drive. Can you please also change the color of the infobox. The brown colour doesn't look very nice. MyNz - Zainal 20:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

I updated the infobox coloring to match the image – it looks better (I think), but it still seems a bit strange to have dark brown around the infobox image. I really don't know that much about the Diversity Alliance, but nominating it for Improvement Drive is probably a good idea if it's in need of major additions. RMF 01:18, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Quad battle

Hi RMF. Are you able to help with this Template:Quad battle infobox|template? It has the four columns in it, but when the info is put in, the first 3 are equal sizes and the last is smaller. I creater by copying the triple battle and changing some of the variables to 4 etc, but don't know how to make this change. --Eyrezer 01:16, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

You did it right – the problem you are seeing is because the field width changes dynamically depending on how it is used. For example, if the first two fields have long words and the others don't, the first two will be wider when shown on the page. RMF 01:30, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

A job for you!

Sorry to disturb you, RMF, would it also be allright if you make templates for Template:Sick|those who are not feeling well, Template:School|those who are busy with school activities and Template:Work|those who are busy with their jobs? These templates's jobs are similar to Template: Vacation. What do you think? MyNz 10:16 July 5 2006 (UTC)

Mm, are you sure we really need those? {{Vacation}} is probably broad enough to cover all those, and if you want to leave a more detailed message you could probably do it in the edit summary or elsewhere on your page. Or, perhaps we could modify the existing template with another field, explaining why the user in (more or less) inactive? RMF 23:55, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

That my be a good solution. MyNz - Zainal 23:58, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

New infoboxes

Hello, RMF. Do you think that it is a good idea to create two new templates: Template:Company for companies, corporations and conglomerates and Template:Military for military organizations. Articles for major corporations like Kuat Drive Yards, Sienar Fleet Systems and Incom deserve some sort of infobox as do some of the larger military organizations like the Imperial Army, Imperial Navy, Grand Army of the Republic, Republic Navy, Confederate Navy and Separatist Droid Army. MyNz 7:04, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that's a definitely a good idea. I have to go shortly but I'll work up something later today. RMF 15:05, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
How's this for the field list on the company infobox? (not necessarily in this order, I was just brainstorming)

  • Locations
  • Founding
  • Founder(s)
  • Date dissolved
  • Eras
