Palpatine help

Hello, I noticed your name during a prior edit war that was being discussed in the Palpatine discussion archive. I think it might be time for someone more official to step in and give a final word on a few matters. User:Starkeiller and I have been in some disagreement for some time over the proper course of action for the Palpatine article. Now, I know he is hardcore about that page and I am not really but we have been arguing first over which lightsaber image was better and then voted and then he conceded defeat and how now started up yet another vote which has morphed into something else entirely. I realize, trust me, how silly this all is. Believe me - I know. If you don't support my arguments that's fine but I'd like to get someone with authority in on this to give some suggestions and insight. This started in Archive page 3 of the discussion and has now gone over on to the 4th page. Both section titles are about lightsabers. If you can give any help or input that would be great. It might be in order to lock the article because he and I have reverted the other's work a number of times on the Lightsaber section on the article page. Happy New Year!

By the way, that Moff Drops thing made me spit soda on my screen because it was so funny. :) --DannyBoy7783 19:40, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • I have locked the page until some agreement can be reached. --Imp 20:12, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • Though it should be noted that the disagreement has shifted from two images to how the entire article should be actually written. --Master Starkeiller 20:19, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)
      • It doesn't really need to be noted because they are two different issues. The second (the article style) happened to start during the second lightsaber problem but I don't see what your point is Starkeiller in what you just said. I think we all know that there are two issues, for those who are following the discussion anyway. We decided your images didn't belong and then we got into the text disagreement.--DannyBoy7783 01:50, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
        • I just notified Riff that the lightsaber disagreement is over and a new has has arisen in its place. Neither irrelevant nor inappropriate.--Master Starkeiller 06:16, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
          • Ok, that didn't seem like what you were saying. Sorry.--DannyBoy7783 06:21, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
  • Different place, guys. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:21, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Dear Riffsyphon, after some five full days of voting, it seems that a decision has been made concerning the Palpatine article's style. At the very least, there seems to be no further activity on the voting. May I politely suggest that now is the time to unlock the page and allow those who work on it to continue? Best regards. Re: Tatooine quadrant system

I suppose an article should be made for it. Only problem is, the only place I've seen it is on the Databank article for the hut. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be made, even if it would be rather short. "Tatooine had a unique navigational system based on quadrants" or somethign like that. Kuralyov 03:38, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Good point. I'll write up something now. Kuralyov 03:42, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Re: My first day

Yes, I will admit that I have done quite a bit for my first day here. *shrug* I guess I'm just anxious to get started helping out. I do have experience working on a few other wikis, Wikipedia being only one of them.

I'll first admit that I did troll a bit before signing up, and that's how I came across the pages I've vfd'd today. The way I came across this wiki was actually through a friend that found it. My alias on other websites is "Zsinj" which would have been a bit too tacky here. =P He actually linked the Zsinj page and I bookmarked the site for future usage. What can I say? I was hooked.

Thanks for the welcome too! =) Esplin 03:35, 5 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Reverted edit of Starkeiller, changed back to last version by Star Wars Guy

Um... why? I thought we had a policy of non-capitaliation. And weren't these gaps unnecessary? --Master Starkeiller 14:45, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Hold on a sec. Ok I see now. I'll unrevert it. -- Riffsyphon1024 14:46, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • Oh, it was a mistake. I was like... what? Why would Riff do this? --Master Starkeiller 14:50, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)
      • Yea, why would Riff do that? :P -- Riffsyphon1024 14:52, 6 Jan 2006 (UTC)

What Wookieepedia is not

You thought Wookieepedia:What Wookieepedia is not was ready for the main Wookieepedia webspace already? Cool. There were some more things I was going to add, too (like Sparq's "Not a free webhost" suggestion.) — Silly Dan 22:02, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • It seemed like it was good enough and you can still add stuff to it. LT and I also discussed it briefly beforehand. -- Riffsyphon1024 22:10, 8 Jan 2006 (UTC)

stub into article?

Alright, I am new to this. So what does it take if I'd like to expand a stub and make it an article? do I simply edit the stub if i believe i collected enough material? and would i remove the stub template or would one of the admins do after reviewing it? Kindest regards, Christian - Edeas 22:52, 11 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Pretty much, yep. Add in your info (typically an article should have at least two or three paragraphs worth to be destubbed, though less is acceptable if the info on the topic is scarce) and then remove the stub template. jSarek 05:20, 12 Jan 2006 (UTC)
  • well thanks for the info :) will try that later on... -- Edeas 12:17, 12 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • Yea what jSarek said. Be bold and remove it yourself. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:12, 14 Jan 2006 (UTC)

eh?

is there any way to get of that list of people who annoy you?-user:remoh

  • What about a way to shut the hell up for five minutes and to stop pissing off every other person on here? --AdmThrawn 06:10, 14 Jan 2006 (UTC)

    • Remoh: you want off the list?
    • Thrawn: Calm down.
    • Cooper: What? -- Riffsyphon1024 06:15, 14 Jan 2006 (UTC)

yes, i want off the list. i wish not to be publicly humiliated, but merely taking action on it has made worse off if anything.-user:remoh

Quick!

Please ban 84.9.76.37 (talkcontribsdeleted contribslogsabuse logblockhardblockblock log): immediately! --Azizlight 23:27, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Done. -- Riffsyphon1024 23:37, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)
  • You should have banned him for much longer or forever after all the damage he has done to this Wiki. He vandalized the Palpatine article by insulting the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and adding racial and religious slurs on the summaries including those attacking Jews and Africans. I feel that he'll do far worse if he ever comes back. I have seen other vandals commit acts less worse than his and get blocked far longer. MyNz 23:40, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, can you please do me a favour? User:24.12.223.113 and User:72.24.183.170 were blocked by QuentinGeorge with an expiry time of 240000 hours each for creating a series of nonsense article and page blanking respectively. However, what they did is compared to nothing like what User:84.9.76.37.

As I have said, I have seen others whom have done much worse and get blocked for much less than 240000 hours. I am not sympathizing with those two users though I find the amount of time they're being blocked absurd and too harsh. It ends only in 2033! Should we at least shorten the blocking times of User:24.12.223.113's and User:72.24.183.170 to show more mercy and give them each another chance? MyNz 23:57, 16 January 2006

  • It's only 2033. :P I'll reduce it to 1000. -- Riffsyphon1024 00:07, 17 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • In all seriousness, the admins may want to work out some sentencing guidelines. Depending on which admin catches it first, the same sort of vandalism can result in banning for one day, one week, fifteen years, or forever. — Silly Dan 02:39, 17 Jan 2006 (UTC)
      • Honestly, there should be no guideline other than this: you vandalize and you are banned. Forever. We shouldn't have to clean up their trouble making. I say a stiff sentence is the only sentence. But then again, I'm far from admin status. :)--DannyBoy7783 06:11, 17 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Infobox question

As an admin, I figure you'd be the one to ask on what the policies are about character infoboxes. There is a debate on it going on, and while I know it's an unofficial policy of only putting governments and Force-groups there, I wonder if there is any actual policy. Kuralyov 00:21, 17 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Sorry

About the Toonbuck Toora article, I thought that the concnsus track would be the right place to bring up the topic. I never ment to do any harm. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. - Darth Benobi

Imageless

On the Coruscant Underworld article, how did you create (or find) that "not enough images" template? Wolfdog 16:33, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

  • {{imageless}} -- Riffsyphon1024 03:18, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
    • Not really what I meant. Uh...like where did you find it? Or just forget it. Ha. Wolfdog 22:23, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
      • Templates are made by users. I'm sure there is a guide here or at wikipedia on how to make template banners. You should search existing templates first to make sure you don't make one for a topic that already exists.--DannyBoy7783 22:49, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Another gallery.

Your the only mod I see thats online, so, would it be ok to create yet another gallery for images of the same subject but different picture? since articles cant contain enough of them. --Razzy1319 07:16, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm getting off here now, but which ones? -- Riffsyphon1024 07:17, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
  • right now the only one I see is Barabel, but what words cant explain maybe multiple pictures can. and there is a bunch of unused images that might be useful --Razzy1319 07:21, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
    • Then you have my approval. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:30, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

        • Barabels 'R' Us. CooperTFN 05:50, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
        • Not just for barabels, I dont think youd want galleries of each article with more than one appearance. One gallery that has extra pictures for a specific article --Razzy1319 05:53, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Copyright Question

I was looking at the Memory Alpha Copyrights (Creative Commons) and at the Wookieepedia:Copyrights (GNUFDL) and I noticed that they are under different policies. Since Star Trek and Star Wars seemed like they should be similar policy wise, I looked at why they don't use GNUFDL. Some of their reasons (especially the commercial use reason) seemed like they would apply to Wookieepedia too. Comments? --Jediarchives11 02:15, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Um, you might want to ask WhiteBoy about this situation as he would be able to answer this better. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:46, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

A little immature, don't you think?

Don't you think listing me on your user page as someone who you don't like is a bit immature and perhaps below you? I think its a bit unnecessary and quite frankly unbecoming of an administrator.--DannyBoy7783 02:10, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

  • I should add that I don't have a problem with you, which is why I brought it up. It doesn't seem productive is all.--DannyBoy7783 02:18, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Hmmm... StarNeptune 02:33, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
    • A)I'm not an admin. B) It doesn't appear on the actual page. C) I forgot it was there until I saw what Riff had on his User page. D) I realize now how dumb it is to have at all which is why I removed it. Riff is being a bit more blatant than I was...--DannyBoy7783 02:35, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
    • Seeing how you did the same, regardless of status, per StarNeptune's discovery, this point is moot. Improve on things and you won't be on the list. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:01, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
      • What I did is HARDLY the same (and I removed it). You emberass yourself Riff, not me so do what you want. I haven't done anything to you to deserve being on you "list". I'm just saying, it reflects poorly on you and the community when you bash active, contributing members but if having that there makes you feel better about yourself than by all means go right ahead and keep it.--DannyBoy7783 13:54, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
  • You did act pretty badly on Remoh's talk page. Look at yourself before you start lashing out at people who have the power to ban you. I said it to you before and I'll say it again: Learn to make friends. -- SFH 15:58, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm not lashing out at anyone, I'm addressing the situation. Lashing out would be if I left some nonsensical comment full of inappropriate language. Also, I think threatening to ban me because I take issue with something is a bit of an abuse of power SFH. I'm allowed to bring up whatever I want for discussion as long as I do it in a reasonable fashion which I have. I'm not saying I'm perfect but I'm also not trying to publicly humiliate people via my User page. There is a difference. Perhaps I did get off on the wrong foot here but I've been working on and have been getting along with other users so stop pretending that an incident of frustration on my part justifies this. I contribute when I can and I help others when I can. Once again, I'll point out that Riff is an admin at this site. People look to admins for leadership and guidance despite what you might think. I'm not saying administrators should be perfect all the time but this doesn't really set a very good example. It's also kind of hard to make friends when people put stuff like this on their user page.--DannyBoy7783 17:13, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
      • Perhaps you misunderstood the titling of the section. If you felt you were included in users to destroy, you were not, only mearly a person that needed looking over the shoulder because of your previous engagements. I have fixed the section to the way it should be. In addition, utter annihilation only goes to those that abuse the wiki or just don't belong here, case in point 9 yr olds and multi-user accounts. Cool down. -- Riffsyphon1024 17:33, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
        • I understood the placement but I can see how one could become confused. I'm doing my best but it's hard when people have stuff like that on their user page. If you want to keep an eye on me that's fine, do what you want but is it really necessary to link to my user page in a mildly insulting way?--DannyBoy7783 17:37, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
          • It might be enlightening to know that I haven't been the only one to do this. Some admins like to restore order in the community and if it requires making a small list like this to do so, then so be it. -- Riffsyphon1024 17:40, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
            • Don't end up in the Leper's Colony! --Imp 17:47, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
              • I'm not on any other lists that I know of. This may keep others in line but it's not going to change my behavior. I'm attempting to get along with the community of my own accord. This list didn't prompt it so if you would please remove me I'd appreciate it.--DannyBoy7783 18:01, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

User namechange

As a bureaucrat, do you have the power to change usernames? User:General Drake Kane wants to be User:Kwest Nun, but he tried to do the namechange himself by moving his userpage. Could you fix it for him and drop him a note? As his talk page redirects to the talk page of a user who technically isn't him, I don't think he got the message I left him. • Looks like they don't have the Renameuser extension enabled. That's the only way I'm aware of doing this other than simply moving the user page. However, be aware that moving the user page will lose your contribution history. WhiteBoy 16:40, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
