Planet Template
Hi I noticed that you changed the planet template back to its former setting. Sorry for bargeing in and stepping on peoples toes. I'm new to this and I presume the way to disucss this (as you suggest) is just to chat like this... ie. by just jumping on a page and typing away (if I'm breaching etequete please tell me the correct way to go aboaut it).
Anyway, as I think the new template is better, but how do I go about having it approved and where is the forum to disscus it.
Cheers, User:Shiaic
- Shiaic, I did not revert the template. You might want to talk to SparqMan about that. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:44, 25 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Species List on region pages
As an admin I wanted to check this with you.
On the Unknown Regions there was a section on Known Species which I added to, and subsequently created a similar list for the Wild Space page. As they are both regions that are incompletely explored I think it is a useful subsection to have, especially for certain races that originate from there but with no homeplanet listed.
However Jack Nebulax disagrees and has twice deleted the sections. It seems to me though, that if someone is prepared to create the lists, and they are accurate, they should be allowed.
Can you weigh in and arbitrate?
You can have a look here for the discussion: Talk:Unknown Regions. Eyrezer 02:50, 25 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Wookieepedia Search Plugin
Is there any way we can put a link to LouCypher's SW Wiki search plugin somewhere on the site? It works with Firefox and Netscape.

How to make a gallery of images?
Is there some sort of template that makes this possible? I think I remember seeing a gallery page back when i first started here... but i can't find anything like it now. Help! :-) --Azizlight 07:15, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- You would type <!-- gallery --> and <!-- /gallery -->. HTML text I know. See also Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide for an example. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:16, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Aaaah excellent, thank you! --Azizlight 07:19, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Hey man. I would like to thank you for all that you have done for this awesome database but I would also like to apologize for screwing up something on your main page. It was under the other stuff section. I was trying to copy the Galactic Empire box thing for my main page, but I think that I deleted something. That box is now no longer in the table. It shouldn't be to hard to fix but I just wanted to apologize. Please don't ban me for vandalisim as it was purly a mistake:-), Kir Kanos (The Empire rocks) (I'm not logged in so my name won't show up under the history section but make no mistake, it's me). I would also like to ask for some help on making a history section for the Imperial I Star Destroyer article and help clean up the Ysanne Isard article which I added a lot to. I guess that I could have fixed it by myself, but I had to go right after I made the error. I'm impressed with the response rate you had for your mainpage. I'm also impressed with the page in general. I'm kind of a rookie on this Wiki but I been a key writer for at least three articles, including Thrawn, Ysanne Isard, and Raith Sienar. P.S. Sorry I posted so much here. It seemed appropiate but I was not sure which section to post my comment in.
- Hmm, I must have missed this one. Normally I would look at the bottom for new additions. I may not have the time or ability to help with those articles, but if you feel they need cleanup, just type the cleanup template on the article, as {{cleanup}}. -- Riffsyphon1024 21:26, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
More admins
Can we please have some more admins? The amount of vandalism and fanon going on lately is quite high, and it's very sad to helplessly watch vandals run rampant. We really need to block it faster. There are plenty of good candidates for admins, in addition to the two currently on the WP:Rfa page ;-) --Azizlight 14:31, 5 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- We have considered it, however Chad doesn't want users that have been here less than 6 months as admins. Then again, haven't you been here at least that by now? -- Riffsyphon1024 16:24, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Page background
I have a question. How do you make a color background for your userpage? Θ 02:44, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- That you cannot do here. The software is uncapable of custom backgrounds. -- Riffsyphon1024 16:23, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Ah, ok. Just wondering. Θ 19:37, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I notice you deleted Earth
...which, of course, was the correct thing to do. However, I was wondering if maybe I should make Earth References a bit more enyclopedic in tone, move it to the main wiki namespace, and make Earth redirect to that page. Does that sound like a good idea to you? — Silly Dan 19:11, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, we can upgrade the page to an out-of-universe article and make Earth redirect. Also it just felt liberating to delete Earth. Earth go bye bye. ;) -- Riffsyphon1024 19:12, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Hey, this is Star Wars, not Hitchhiker's Guide or DBZ. :) Thanos6 19:15, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Lol, yea I felt Vogonish and wanted to build a new hyperlane through Wookieepedia. Earth had to go. :P -- Riffsyphon1024 19:17, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Or The Tick. ("You can't destroy the Earth! That's where I keep all my stuff!") I think it should be left as an out-of-universe article, like List of changes in Star Wars re-releases though. — Silly Dan 19:17, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- But Riff, why oh why did you delete Earth? It was mostly harmless! ;) Adamwankenobi 19:45, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Actually, the Firespray-class starship had a bad link. Same with Wikipedia. Thanks for fixing it.--Kross 08:02, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Well we'll keep it a redirect in case some wikipedian assumes its spelled that way looks it up. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:05, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)
User:Lowkey
Riffsyphon, this user continues to change the Executrix page to what this user believes it should be. Lowkey has no source for the changes, and I have reverted it many times, only to find it changed back. So, please talk to this user and get him/her to knock it off, as I am sick and tired of reverting it. Admiral J. Nebulax 17:32, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Featured article elimination process
- How exactly do we go about eliminating failed nominations from the featured article page? There seem to be several articles that are far from being featured article quality but are still being nominated (Aayla Secura, Quinlan Vos) and it really clutters up the page if they just stay there. I brought this up on the WP:FA talk page but didn't really get an answer, so I figured you'd be the best guy to ask. <3 --MarcK [talk] 11:08, 11 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Well, on Wikipedia, they simply remove the article from the list, and put a template on the article's talk page saying "former featured article candidate." Adamwankenobi 13:38, 11 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- But at what point do they decide to do that? --MarcK [talk] 12:55, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I think we can safely remove articles for which the latest vote was cast a month ago. - Sikon [Talk] 13:24, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. If a month passes, its a reasonable time to consider the article vote dead and clear the page of it. -- Riffsyphon1024 21:05, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)

"Earth" and "ground"
Nice move in changing "earthquake" to "groundquake", but are you sure the term "earth" isn't used to describe dirt/ground IU? --SparqMan 23:38, 19 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Well, "groundquake" is used in Star Wars. For example, in Operation Groundquake in X-Wing: Iron Fist, and the one on Berchest [1]. -LtNOWIS 00:49, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I know it is, and it has a more IU feel. Just curious if we had any evidence to the contrary. --SparqMan 01:25, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I'd still say that recognizing Earth, only places the galaxy within ours and violates the OOU policy. There should be a line to draw, since they don't know about Earth, nor come from it. We on the other hand are rather Earth-centric. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:24, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- The use of "earth" to define the ground predates our use of it to define the planet by quite some time and is the basis for the term "earthquake" (as opposed to "Earthquake", which I imagine would be quite a massive quake indeed). I'm not questioning the decision, only if anyone has seen evidence that supports their use of the term "earth" as in "Corran felt the earth around him". --SparqMan 05:06, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- In that instance, then maybe earth could be any ground, on any planet. But considering the author who wrote that wasn't trying to stay in that frame, I'm not sure then. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:10, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)

- All users, including anons, have the ability to place categories. Simply type at the bottom of an article [[Category:Subject]], with the subject being whatever the article is on, whether it be characters, actors, fanfilms, technology, etc. Just be sure to capitalize the first word and keep all following words in lowercase. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:28, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
