Three things:

~~I'm not an administrator here (yet), so I have asked Angela to add that "Create a new article" link if a search comes up empty.~~ I'm an admin now, and actually so are you.
In Wikipedia, I've added a {{swwiki}} template that we can "flag" an article to be moved over here.
I am checking on the possibility of getting articles transwikied so we can move history, discussion pages, and all. I'll let you know as more develops on that.

Episode III

I assume you've seen the new trailer by now. Man, this movie looks so good. 'course I've like Eps I and II both (unlike alot of people). Just wanted to see what you thought. Yes, indeed I have seen the trailer and I rewatch it on my computer whenever I need a rush. I enjoyed Episodes I and II however it is noted that Jar Jar will always be irritating to everyone. I showed them to my father to get him caught up before III and showed him the plan behind Palpatine, so it all clicks for him now. I have seen all I need to see before the movie itself. No more spoilers I need to see. I heard that we'll see up to 11 planets in this one: Coruscant, Tatooine, Naboo, Alderaan, Mustafar, Kashyyyk, Utapau, and a few others I can't think of right now. The trailer was one of the best trailers put together, if not the best.

Yes, I almost got chills when he said, "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?" Then the way he flicks that lightsaber out and "pounces" down in front of them...pretty dang cool! Excellent trailer! And yeah, I'm not much of a spoiler guy, either. I've got a buddy who reads all the spoiler forums at the TFN and he'll try to tell me some theory he read every once in a while. Checking the Art of Revenge at SW.com, I have found that most everything I have seen there is in Episode III.

It is interesting to note that there are scenes of a new planet called Mygeeto with crystalline formations and giant worms, bridges on Cato Neumoidia, ~~and an image of Ithorians protecting their homeworld of Ithor~~. Will we see these planets too? -- Riffsyphon1024 20:07, 17 Mar 2005 (EST)

How to Use Fonts

Yuuzhan Vong

i, I was wondering if you could help me improve the Yuuzhan Vong Caterory up a bit? Possibly create a Peace Brigade Category, Create a page for Supreme Overlord Shimrra, etc, etc.

Place these articles in there with redlinks giving instantaneous access for editing and creation. Help!

Riffsyphon, you have to help me! You are like totally the creator of this site, and I need help! Two things, actually. Two people called User:Darth Fisto and User:Aidje are saying that I shouldn't transfer Wikipedia articles here! I see that you are a supporter of such transfers, so is it fair that they are complaining? I know its a free country, but I mean, it's OK to transfer Wikipedia articles here, if they're good, right? Also, how do you put pictures on Star Wars Wiki? Do you paste? KFan II

Clarification of the issue: The complaints were not about transferring articles from Wikipedia because Wookieepedia did not have an article about the subject in question; the problem was that KFan II was completely replacing existing SWW articles with WP articles. I hope this clears it up for you, Riffsyphon. I think there are some good examples on the movie articles. Darth Fisto reverted some of these edits, though (an action which I wholeheartedly approve of). -- Aidje 04:01, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

First off, KFan II, I am only a co-founder of this site. Talk to WhiteBoy as he is the true founder and would know what to do. As for what I think we are to be doing, we are copying articles from Wikipedia as is, and then wookifying them to suit this wiki better. And pictures are not pasted. They are uploaded. Template:DF-JK and Template:NJO

If you've been on my work-in-progress page you've probably seen the NJO template. I also did something like it for the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight videogame series (basically ripoffs of Template:Films). I was thinking that all of the longer game and book series could use one. It would save on space, help to interconnect articles, and provide some uniformity. These first two are more or less to see what general reation to them would be. Any feedback would be appreciated. Shadowtrooper 20:11, 1 May 2005 (UTC)

I have been thinking about this, too, but I had in mind a box that would link to the next book and previous book in a series—sort of the same idea as the links provided on battle articles for the next and previous battle. The NJO box seems a bit large, but I suppose I could get used to it. By the way, I recently made a box that could be used for trilogys: Template:trilogy-box (since they only have three parts, I see no problem with linking to all of them, as well as to an article about the trilogy as a whole). -- Aidje 14:39, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

Repulsor coils?

This is the great thing about Wikis - if you think something should have more information, just add it. No one's article is "their own" - there's nothing proprietary here. If you don't want to interrupt the flow of Riffsyphon's text, just tack it on as a "See Also" at the end. JSarek 18:13, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

You don't need permission. Just add an entry, and toss it into the edit frenzy. It'll come out as group consensus in the end. I think it helps to provied as much supporting evidence as possible, of course.--Eion 02:03, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

  - you could start with a firm stance on bullet versus indent. Personally, I like bullets in all comment pages, and the indents are driving me nuts...

All I ever saw on Wikipedia was indents, so I assumed that this was the accepted method. Riffsyphon was the first person I saw use bullets, and I do like having a dot before each new comment. I say bullets are for new comments, indents are for multiple paragraphs by the same commenter. But maybe that's just me? -- Aidje 03:51, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Well, of course, indents are quite useful to wrap multipled paragraphs, but using them to start new comments is most annoying, at least to me, b/c it messes up the bulleting, which is the best way to show branching comment trees, IMHO--Eion 03:53, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

hmm. It makes sense, but it falls apart whenever anyone doesn't notice the structure (like me). They start posting as if it was all linear, and then there is not structure anymore. I can see how that would be beneficial, though. Images

Would you happen to know how to replace an already uploaded image? I've looked for instructions on Wikipedia, but I can't find anything. The situation is this: I uploaded File:Ivpikkis.png, then, after uploading it, I noticed the gray border. I had in mind that you might want to use your sysop-ness to revert KFan's edits. For instance, Palpatine is now just a redirect to Darth Sidious. Reverting a change that big is difficult without the rollback button. – Aidje _talk 15:41, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

Amanin and Maridun

Hi Riffsyphon -- I put some of the information you moved from the Amanin article to the Maridun article back in. It seems to me that information on how the Amanin interacted with the rest of the galaxy should be put in both articles (just as information would be repeated across Wikipedia articles on, for example, the Zulu people and the History of South Africa). Um however, the last name "Sivrak" could be a common name. Hmm... it said a Shistavanen student at the University of Coruscant reported "My parents, Tagg and Nira Sivrak..." and then..."studying cartography has been my dream since my uncle showed his great heroism as a pilot for the Rebel Alliance". Deletion of Bakura task force ships

In what cases do we want to leave articles as locked redirects to avoid their recreation? --SparqMan 18:09, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

I deleted the double redirects that had "The" in their titles, which is unnecessary. Also I checked to make sure nothing linked to them, and nothing did. When we make an article in the future, it will be without the "The", and those still exist. -- Riffsyphon1024 18:14, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

Episode III

Have you seen ROTS yet. It really is great, and the acting is far better than Episodes 1 + 2, Ian McDiarmid is brilliantly creepy. It was a bit of a shame not to hear the Lord Vader, Riiiiiiiiissssssssseee and some of the other lines from the trailer which were not edited together in the actual film.

It was a shame to see Ki Adi Mundi (probably my favourite council member) get killed. Also i was wondering: I heard a rumour that Lucas appeared himself in the film but i couldn't spot him. Do you know where he is supposed to appear? --Mantus 12:04, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

        It's actually the Wikicities format. The Wikipedia format is some strange modification to account for the fact that it's too big to use the maintenance page. - I'm glad you re-added this. That fool is beginning to annoy me. For some reason he regards my (and others) opinion as 'wrong', despite the fact it is supported by more evidence than his own, which he has yet to display any evidence for. Further, he keeps insisting that "democracy is an illusion", whilst failing to realise that democracy fails because of people like him, forcing their views on to others as being 'correct'. Add that with the fact that he decided to spam everyone's talk boards, either congratulating them or condescending them (of course according to whether they agreed with his opinion), and I for one wouldn't be sorry if he was banned. --Fade 18:49, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

Thought you might like to know

Apparently, Lucasfilm has a database the call "The Holocron". It's a continuity database. Here's a quick list of its stats:

Characters: 7,633
Planets: 3,311
Aliens: 713
Creatures: 1,190
Vehicles: 2,202
Weapons: 1,031
Groups: 1,433

Please note that not all of these entries have been released (some may be in development). According to the guy in charge of it: "There are no current plans to make the Holocron available to the public either in an online or published version. In addition to being an archive for information that has already been published, the Holocron is a tool to track everything that is currently in development. Information is entered at the earliest stages, so there is information about products that won't be released until years later. It is also used to store unpublished reference information." That's a whole lot of stuff in the SWU, it would appear we have our work cut out for us.

Yes we do, but that is the intent of this site. With an unlimited amount of memory, we have easily eclipsed Wikipedia's amount of Star Wars content, and are charging hard towards even larger numbers of articles. I hope that this site becomes a premier venue for information that can be constantly updated by hundreds at a time thus getting the job done faster than a few or even one individual on another site. LOTR advertisement

With my advertisement for the LOTR wikicity I was only trying to spark some interest. Over at LOTR we have only just got going and we need lots of help to make the site a success, so I thought that perhaps some of the people over here might be interested in giving a little of their time to helping over at LOTR. I'm sorry if I am syphoning off people from this site, but I manage to spend a little time on both sites (although I do spend most time on Star Wars wikicity).   - Well, Aidje, being possessive can have its advantages, because now it is up for a vote on Vfd, whether or not it stays there is up to the Wikipedians. It can be checked at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/List of moffs. It will remain on Wookieepedia no doubt, but it is not Wikipedia worthy. Still shouldn't have happened though. SG's only intentions were to take the list for his own and run to create his own little holding area for things. KFanII

Could we do something about him? He absolutely refuses to listen to what I have to say, and keeps vandalising the pages of various Sith with lots of weird fanon that he absolutely refuses to back up. Case in point: He absolutely refuses to believe that Zannah and Darth Andeddu are different people (despite one being female and the other male) and keeps changing their pages to reflect this belief. Hey Riff, would you prefer if we kept a certain size limit when uploading the comic covers? Some of them get as big as 150kb... but then again, they get resized (and smaller in size) when used on a page. --Imperialles 08:32, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
