Sky trooper vs. Sky Trooper

I just wanted to point out the reason for my choice of spelling/capitalization as far as the term "Sky Trooper" goes. It may not completely fit with the naming convention of other troopers, but I based it on the packaging for the toy set seen here at EndorExpress.net. I figure it's really the only official spelling, since every other use of the term has been from out-of-universe sources. --JMM (talk) 12:55, October 16, 2013 (UTC)

I don't know anything about the situation. I was just carrying out a move requested by JMAS that seemed reasonable. If you believe the move was in error, it would be best for you to discuss it with JMAS, as he would have more knowledge about this than I do. —MJ— Comlink 23:22, October 16, 2013 (UTC)
AAT driver battle droid is also capitalized on the toy packaging, because Hasbro capitalized all names on its products. But per naming convention, the trooper should not be capitalized, just as we didn't for the AAT drive battle droid page. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 23:27, October 16, 2013 (UTC)
OK, sounds like a good explanation to me. --JMM (talk) 01:38, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Insiders

Hey, MJ. I see you've got Insiders 84, 91, and 113. Is Knights of the Old Republic mentioned in those at all? Probably in the Blaster/Jawa's Corner sections. Thanks, Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 23:15, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

Which KotOR? The game or the comics? Or both? (Message left with bot account to trigger orange bar of doom as a reminder to check this tomorrow, since I'm going to bed right now.) Advanced Jedi Training Droid 6 (Talk to my master) 04:09, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
That's all I see. The two columns in 91 and 113 are too large for me to type up here, but if push comes to shove, I can dig out my scanner and email you a scanned copy of them. —MJ— Council Chambers 17:23, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Contributor asking a question

Hi Master Jonathan, I was wondering if I would like to ask you a question.--63.92.231.217 18:14, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

I have no way of knowing if you would like to ask me a question. That's a decision that you must make. ;) —MJ— Training Room 18:16, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I'm really sorry!--63.92.231.217 18:19, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
It's just, I wanted to ask you about the "In other languages" which I found in the very bottom of Gregar Typho. I'm just curious!--63.92.231.217 18:23, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
You'll find that on many pages. There are multiple versions of Wookieepedia in various languages (most with different names, but still the same scope). When a particular subject has articles in multiple language, we place that box at the bottom of the page to provide links to the versions in other languages. The gold star that you see next to the German version on Gregar Typho means that the German article is a Featured Article (or equivalent status) based on the rules of the German wiki. Does that answer your question? —MJ— Council Chambers 18:31, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, in fact there's one page which I edited that I might need a language version. It's Carlon Brandes. I hoping if its alright or not that you can check the page after I added the link. If its appropriate!--63.92.231.217 18:35, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Yep, that looks good! Thanks! —MJ— Training Room 18:45, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you Master Jonathan. Also, there might be a little more--63.92.231.217 18:47, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Feel free to add language links to any page that you see that needs them, and don't worry about getting each one checked/approved. If it didn't break things, then it should be good, and if it did break things, then either figure out what you did wrong and fix it, or ask for help. :) —MJ— Council Chambers 18:52, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Of course, is there any person, like yourself, in this site that might help, incase if I'm stuck with something?--63.92.231.217 18:55, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
I'm always willing to help, though I'm busy reviewing an article right now so in-depth debugging would need to wait. Alternatively, posting in the Senate Hall forum will usually get the quickest response, as that is patrolled by many members of the community. —MJ— Council Chambers 19:00, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! May the Force be with you Master Jonathan.--63.92.231.217 19:04, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Kylaena Hayley = Kylaena Haley

Hey Master Jonathan. I just noticed the article Kylaena Hayley. I believe whoever gave her that last name on the article wrote it as a typo. The game's directory files and several online player made guides give her last name as Haley. Would it be possible to move the article to Kylaena Haley? It seems only an administrator can do this. Thanks! StarsiderSWG (talk) 23:02, October 27, 2013 (UTC)

Done. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 04:05, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

Byzantinefire

Well he hurts my feelings alot on the IRC am i supposed to just take constantly take that from him? Byzantinefire 01:44, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

If you have an issue with another user, then you need to discuss it with them, or with an admin if that fails, in a civil manner. Resorting to personal attacks is never, ever acceptable. As for the specific issues involved here, I am rarely on IRC and thus don't know what's going on. I would suggest discussing the matter with an admin who is on IRC regularly. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 01:48, November 1, 2013 (UTC)
I plan to with Toprawa. Byzantinefire 01:49, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

WOTM

Hi Master Jonathan! I just wanted to post a little message to thank you for supporting my nomination for Wookieepedian of the Month. I couldn't be more grateful.--LennyF (talk) 15:50, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

No problem. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 18:45, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Dat Mouse

Hello Master Jonathan. :-) I was wondering if you could give Mickey Mouse a pre-nom review on its talk page. I guess there's a lot of fluff as usual, but I'd let you judge it in person. ;-) --LelalMekha (talk) 22:40, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

I'll look at it closely within the next few days. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 18:45, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

User asking for assistance

Hello Master Jonathan. I was wondering if you could help me with something.--63.92.231.217 17:58, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations, you have caused me to add a new line to the header of this page. I suggest you heed it. :) —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 18:45, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Death Stars and diameters

Hello my friend! Although we'll see whether Leland Chee will answer your tweet, I think there really is nothing to argue about. Ryder is a true research hound who knows his stuff and usually does some reversions and retcons on purpose. I'm afraid this is just the old saxtonite vs. nonsaxtonite battle. There is no arguing over it. Since when are we doubting print sources? Sources are to be regarded as correct until an error is noted, not the other way around. I can show you the exact quotes from the book, aside from the comparison chart:

  1. About DS 1: page 23: "Diameter: 120km (74.6 miles)"
  2. About DS 2: page 112 in text: "[DS 2 is] over twice the volume of the original at 160km in diameter." Page 113, stats for the DS2: "Diameter: 160km (99.4miles)"

By the way, believe me when I say I don't like those "new"/old figures, for I am a saxtonite myself. --LelalMekha (talk) 21:42, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

I have a sickening feeling that you're right and it's going to end up as a retcon, but when a change is this surprising, I want to do due diligence and make sure before we start changing things around. It's easier to change it once after checking and be done with it than it is to change it immediately, do other stuff to the page, and then have to change it back a month later when the undo button no longer works on the original edit. (P.S. What do you mean by "saxtonite"? I have to confess that I've never heard that term before.) —MJ— War Room 21:49, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
Curtis Saxton's article should answer your question. ;-) Saxton was the man behind the 900 km figure for DS II, among other things. The guy holds a doctorate in astrophysics, so he would always used real-life physics and calculations for his Star Wars stuff, which made him quite popular with some fans, and quite unpopular with others. --LelalMekha (talk) 21:53, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, OK. Thanks for the explanation. —MJ— War Room 21:56, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Race course

Hey Jonathan, I checked the course articles and they have the information, so I really couldn't merge any new information from race course. It seems that the original creator took information from the various course articles and inserted the info in race course. JangFett (Talk) 17:02, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

OK, that's fine. Just as long as the information is there. Thanks. —MJ— Training Room 17:27, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Anakin's lightsabers

Why did you undo my edits on those pages? I just rewatched the first Clone Wars series about a week ago and to be sure I just looked at the DVD box to volume 2 and his lightsaber in that series clearly resembles his second one, not the first. The article on his first lightsaber indicates that he used his first lightsaber in the Clone Wars tv show which he did not do. You mentioned reading somewhere though that he recovered and repaired his first lightsaber? I have not heard that before but it may have happened if it is stated in an official source, but by the start of the first Clone Wars show he switched to his second weapon long before he was knighted. GreenDragonRanger (talk) 18:39, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

I just received your message. My source for my edits was the first Clone Wars TV show. Surely that qualifies as verified information. GreenDragonRanger (talk) 18:45, November 9, 2013 (UTC)
Good news; I finally figured out how to add references in (I don't use wikis as often as I used to so I keep forgetting how to properly format sources) so if it's okay I am re-adding my edits with the proper sources. GreenDragonRanger (talk) 18:57, November 9, 2013 (UTC)
That's fine now that we have a source. The main reason for reverting that edit was because the edit and your edit summary seemed to contradict each other. Since you called it a typo in a subsequent edit summary, that clears things up. As for the edits on the article for the second lightsaber, you're in for a major headache if you are trying to interpret the Clone Wars timeline, because the newer Star Wars: The Clone Wars series tossed the old timeline into a blender and set it to LIQUEFY. :P Seriously, until we get an official, comprehensive Clone Wars timeline from Lucasfilm, it's difficult to assume where CW material takes place relative to TCW material. I've don't know much about that arena, so I'll let the new sourced edits stand, but they might be wrong. —MJ— Training Room 20:06, November 9, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. As I did some more reading I realized how much the new Clone Wars TV show screwed up establishing a timeline. When I watched both shows I personally came to the conclusion that the new show takes place during a gap of Chapter 22 that starts when Anakin meets Padme and shows her his new scar and picks up with Anakin and Obi-wan breaking up a siege prior to traveling to Nelvan. Now how does other Clones Wars material (comics, novels, etc.) fit in I have no idea. Once an official timeline that clarifies all of this is published it may help clarify things. Thanks. GreenDragonRanger (talk) 01:09, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Limeren

Hi Master Jonathan, its me. Sorry I didn't respond to you. I'm not on wookieepedia so much. If you get this message, I need to ask you about the Limeren page. In the picture, Limeren looks like a Mon Calamari. Is it possible that he is? Just need to be 100% sure.--63.92.231.217 22:07, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Possible, though I'm not sure as that is not my area of expertise. I suggest asking SavageBob, who is one of our resident experts on sentient species. He would be better able to answer this question. —MJ— Council Chambers 00:08, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
The fact that the article says that he was "surgically-altered to give him the appearance of a Mon Calamari" probably means he was not actually a Mon Cal...68.38.185.10 04:22, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, yep, I missed that. So no, he was not a Mon Calamari. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 21:09, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your clarification

Thanks for your clarification regarding Template:EmpireHeader in the edit summary on Huttsbane, though you could have pointed it out in a less obnoxious way. I will keep it in mind :) --Gnarscien (talk) 03:05, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

I didn't mean for it to be obnoxious. Apologies if it came across that way. :) —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 05:06, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Zebra Starfighter

Meh, I could've sworn it was. I checked out other pictures on the Wiki that I saw in TFUCG, and most had it as a source, so I figured it was in there... I see that the page lists The Planets Collection as another source, so I checked it out but didn't see the Zebra Starfighter image in there, so I thought for sure it had to be from TFUCG. Sorry for the inconvenience. —Super Saiyan 7 Somebody | talk | edits 15:30, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

That image would be from an old WEG product (the giveaway is the 3D+2 dice notation that was used in their d6 systems; WotC used a d20 system that used notation like 2d8+3). If you can identify the correct source, you're welcome to re-upload it (or ask me, as I can undelete it), but the warning stands: you are required to provide a valid source for every image and are held responsible if a source is false, even if it was based on a seemingly valid belief. For that reason, I recommend that you do not upload an image unless you have personally verified the source with the physical, original source material. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 21:09, November 18, 2013 (UTC)
On second examination, I now believe that image is fan-made, since I now see that it references the TFUCG, which would be an anachronism in a WEG source. It seems that somebody tried to create d6 stats for stuff from the newer d20 books. On that basis, the image does not belong on Wookieepedia at all. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 21:12, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

I don't understand

You just deleted a very valid complaint I had about my edits being reverted on an article. All I wanted was for a new set of eyes to take a look at the situation. I did in fact read the replies on my talk page, as you recommended I do. Perhaps the Admin Noticeboard wasn't the place to carry the dispute? I figured if there is an unresolved dispute, it should be taken to administrators. Would Senate Hall be better?

Please be more helpful and kind to new users such as myself instead of simply directing me to comments on my talk page that I have already read and disagree with; That is the point. I wanted a new set of eyes on the situation since the dispute was obviously not going to be resolved. --Gnarscien (talk) 07:24, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

The article actually does need cleanup. Even Ataru and Cade said that much. Please stop belittling me. I have been nothing but respectful, and my edits were nothing but constructive and good faith. --Gnarscien (talk) 07:44, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Okay, I have edited the article with only the spelling and punctuation fixes that it needed. I have not removed anything. --Gnarscien (talk) 08:31, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Twitter cite

Hello Master Jonathan. I need an admin's advice there. Recently, I've asked Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter about the connection between Nenevanth Tion and Lord Tion from the SW radio drama. I just received an answer, but I'm not sure how to properly use the Twitter citation template here. Indeed, Hidalgo's answer spreads over four messages, and the best way to link to the whole conversation would be to cite my tweet. However, this would add a link to my user page within the content namespace, which could be interpreted as a self-aggrandizement attempt. Do you feel it would be more proper to link all four of Hidalgo's tweets instead? Thanks in advance. --LelalMekha (talk) 11:43, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

I think it would be best to link to your tweet and cite Pablo as the author within the template, since he is in fact the author of the information you are using as a reference. I'm not familiar with the Twitter template, but I see no reason why it wouldn't let you do that. :) —MJ— Comlink 18:33, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

Threads

If the links at the end are so important then why not use thread?s (Byzantinefire 21:03, November 26, 2013 (UTC))

Because we are a proper wiki, and proper wikis use wiki pages for discussion, not the half-broken crap that Wikia tries to force on everyone. Also, it is trivially easy to include a link in your signature, and thus there is no excuse for not doing so. —MJ— War Room 21:08, November 26, 2013 (UTC)
