Wookiees-Transparent

Wookieepedia aspires to be a reliable source for all Star Wars fans to read and draw information from, and as such, fan-created continuity and fan fiction are not allowed within our articles. All in-universe material must be attributable to a reliable, published source.

Do not remove talk page and forum comments, including your own, as they are part of the public record. Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~.

For an optimal viewing experience, Wookieepedia recommends using the Monobook skin. For help changing your skin preference, see Help:Skin.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Senate Hall, visit our official IRC channel, or ask me on my talk page. May the Force be with you! —SFH (talk) 20:44, September 15, 2013 (UTC)

Signature and Talkpage

Hey. Out site has specific policies on changing the signature, which can be found here. Make sure you follow those guidelines, because we can't have you using massive images in your signature, as that will ruin the talk pages. If you want to see an example of a signature, see here. The formatting of it can give you an idea of where to start. As for personalizing talkpages, we generally do not change them too much, besides adding a header or something to start the page off. If you want to personalize something, I suggest doing it on your user page, as long as you follow these guidelines. Hope that helps, 501st dogma(talk) 22:42, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • Thanks. Already worked on my signature, I hope this works.-- MadMarek - "Not really crazy. It's just a motto" 09:19, November 15, 2013 (UTC)
    • WP:SIG says that your signature has to include a link back to you user page. Therefore, don't forget to add that. Fe Nite (talk) 15:27, November 15, 2013 (UTC)
      • Thanks for the reminder Fe Nite, that completely sliped my mind!-- MadMarek (talk) - "Not really crazy. Its just a motto." 13:39, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

Two warnings

  • Please do not remove messages from talk pages, including your own. All messages are part of the public record and must remain visible. If you do not want a message to remain on your talk page, you may archive it on a subpage of this page provided that a link to the archive page is placed at the top of this page. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • While all good-faith contributions to Wookieepedia are appreciated, we ask that you please refer to Wookieepedia:Images, which can be found under the "other policies and guidelines" link in your welcome message, and familiarize yourself with the sourcing and licensing requirements before uploading any more images. The only uploading method supported by Wookieepedia, Special:Upload, will prompt you to enter this information. Wikia's non-standard upload forms are not supported under Wookieepedia policy, and ignorance of the uploading rules is not an acceptable excuse. Continued violation of the image policy or falsification of any information in an upload description are considered vandalism and will likely result in a block. Thank you.

—MJ— Council Chambers 22:42, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

    • Thank you Master Jonathan, at first I didn't really get the image uploading process, I've just had a indepth read of the policy you linked, and I will be sure to comply with it next time. And about the talk page, could you please tell me how to create an archive for my talk page.-- MadMarek (talk) - "Not really crazy. Its just a motto." 13:46, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
      • For archiving talk pages, you may create a subpage of your talk page, i.e. User talk:MadMarek/Archive1. Also, please note that this image that you uploaded still requires proper licensing information. If sourcing is not provided, it will be deleted within the next few days. Please become familiar with WP:I (which Master Jonathan has already linked for you) and ask questions if you get confused. CC7567 (talk) 22:43, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
        • Thank you for reminding me again, (and for that on talk page archives), but I'm still not sure how to license or source that image. How is it done, in a simple explanation please.--Alliance Starbird MadMarek (talk) - "Not really crazy. Its just a motto." 10:54, November 18, 2013 (UTC)
          • Assuming that you are using Special:Upload, which is the only upload form supported by Wookieepedia policy, you will presented with a box for entering the source and a drop-down menu for selecting the appropriate license, and you will be unable to submit the file for upload until that has been completed. If you are attempting to use any other upload forms, such as the pop-up ones, then the only instruction you'll get is "use Special:Upload instead" because we do not support any other form. —MJ— Holocomm 21:00, November 18, 2013 (UTC)
            • O damn! I thought that little box with the drop-down menu had something to do with it, I really should pay more attention. I tried license it but I couldn't find that menu again, so I thought, just delete (or get someone with authority to delete) 150px and I'll re-upload with the correct licensing.--Alliance Starbird MadMarek (talk) - "Not really crazy. Its just a motto." 17:59, November 19, 2013 (UTC)
              • No problem. I've deleted the image for you. —MJ— Comlink 23:20, November 19, 2013 (UTC)
                • Thanks a lot, I'll see to the rest.
                • P.S.-Just re-uploaded that image, did I do it correctly?--Redstarbird MadMarek (Force Box) - "We speak, we learn, thats what we're for" 16:07, November 20, 2013 (UTC)
                  • No, because you're still using an unsupported form, and as a result you have not provided a description or a source for the image. Please go to http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Upload and use the guided form there, as it will prompt you for the correct information. Also, is there a specific article that you intend to use this image on? If not, please be aware that you are not permitted to upload images solely for use on your user page until you meet the requirements to vote on all site processes, per the user image policy. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 20:18, November 20, 2013 (UTC)
                      • Aww, I see. I'm sure there is solution. Thank you for your time.--Redstarbird MadMarek (Force Box) - "We speak, we learn, thats what we're for" 16:21, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Image

Hey, MadMarek. You need to be more precise when sourcing. The image in general is from Return of the Jedi, not from some website. Also, be sure to crop the image before uploading. Per WP:I, letterboxes need to be removed. Thanks, JangFett (Talk) 16:47, December 19, 2013 (UTC)

  • Since you already have an archive, all you need to do is take everything in this talk page and dump it in there. JangFett (Talk) 18:06, December 19, 2013 (UTC)
    • I've already answered that: "take everything in this talk page and dump it in there". That means cut, not copy, the messages and paste them in your archive. JangFett (Talk) 13:33, December 23, 2013 (UTC)

Edu Corps

The EduCorps is a group of people who review the CAN page, and maintain it. Our votes count more towards passing a nomination, and we are responsible for archiving passed nominations and reviewing passed nominations that have problems. Hope that helps, 501st dogma(talk) 14:50, December 24, 2013 (UTC)

  • Regarding your question in Dogma's talk page about the ACorps (sorry Dogma to butt in :P). The Agricultural Corps is much like the EduCorps (explained above), except the ACs are meant to review the GAN page, though they may also review CANs with the same authority as an EC. The ACs' name is based on the actual in-universe Agricultural Corps, a Jedi Order's organization ;). Also, dogma is actually a member of the ECs, not ACs. Winterz (talk) 15:19, December 24, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Two questions

Yeah, if the image has letterboxes, then you'll need to crop the image via an image editing program on your computer. From my phone resolution, the other link you gave me, not the Endor one, looks like it has room. I could be wrong but go ahead and give it a check. JangFett (Talk) 18:08, January 3, 2014 (UTC)

Think Tank

Just so you know, something like the Think Tank you created needs to be discussed first before being implemented. That being said, as the main purpose of it seems to be a general purpose discussion forum, it really doesn't belong here. Per what Wookieepedia is not, we are not a general purpose message board. Thank you for your cooperation. Supreme Emperor (talk) 15:19, January 6, 2014 (UTC)

  • Okay. I see, then do what must be done, I apologise for causing any inconveniance.--Redstarbird MadMarek (Force Box) - "We speak, we learn, thats what we're for" 15:27, January 6, 2014 (UTC)
    • Hey, and welcome to Wookieepedia. As SE mentioned above, any new forums should be discussed in our Senate Hall forum first, to gather some community opinions before implementation. That said, Wookieepedia isn't really the place for these kinds of discussions, so such a proposal is unlikely to succeed. Hopefully this helps and let me know if you have any question. 1358 (Talk) 15:36, January 6, 2014 (UTC)
      • I'm not entirely sure about that as I don't frequent such forums, but you might be interested in taking a look at the Jedi Council Forums on theforce.net. Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 17:30, January 6, 2014 (UTC)

Deletion

Hey, Marek. Just so you know, I deleted Old Stuff since it apparently was a portfolio you tried to make for yourself. The main namespace is reserved for actual articles. If you want to create a portfolio for yourself, you'll need to make a user subpage. For example, User:MadMarek/Portfolio. This will reserve the article under your user namespace. Hope that makes sense. Cheers.—Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 16:23, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

  • Thanks for bringing that to my attention, your help is appreciated.--Redstarbird MadMarek (Force Box) - "We speak, we learn, thats what we're for" 16:25, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Done, finally!

Good job. There were some letterbox remnants left over, but I took care of it. JangFett (Talk) 13:52, January 30, 2014 (UTC)

Signature

I noticed your new signature subpages. Please note that this new signature violates numerous aspects of Wookieepedia's signature policy. Specifically:

  1. Rule 5: You are only permitted one link in your signature in addition to the mandatory user page link.
  2. Rule 6.2: The timestamp must retain all information present in the default timestamp. This includes the text "UTC" to unambiguously identify the time zone.
  3. Rule 6.3: The timestamp must display the month at text, not as a number, to prevent confusion between mm/dd/yyyy and dd/mm/yyyy formats.
  4. Rule 7: Transclusion of signature templates is strictly prohibited. Your signature cannot place any templates on a talk page when you sign your comments; only raw code can be placed on talk pages.
  5. Prohibition 4: Backgrounds and borders are strictly prohibited.

Please fix your signature so that it complies with all aspects of the signature policy. —MJ— Council Chambers 20:52, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

  • Thank you Master Jonathan, one problem is if I change the signature it will be ruined, so I think it should rather be removed from Wookieepedia. BUT!!! Before you do that, please tell me how to get two different sigs on two different wikis, I see you use one kind of sig here, but another on your test wiki, you see, I want to keep that sig on the other wikis I contribute to but I'll use a compliant sig here, so how can I do that?--MadMarek(Force Box) - "Doeth thee mother know you wearest her drapes?"
    • The easiest way to get different signatures on different wikis is to create a subpage at the same title on each wiki for your signature (e.g. User:MadMarek/Sig), then just enter into your preferences. However, that will break in an ugly manner if you pop onto a new wiki and try to sign without first creating the signature subpage on that wiki. If you're concerned about that, then you can do what I do, which is use the #ifexist parser function in my preferences to check whether my signature subpage exists on that wiki and either substitute it if it does or else use a short, default signature defined in preferences. So the exact code in my preferences is:

In short, that 1) checks whether the sig page exists ({{subst:#ifexist:User:Master Jonathan/sig); 2) if the page exists, the function returns the first argument (); 3) else, if it does not exist, it returns the second argument (<span style="color:red">Master Jonathan</span> (<span style="color:red">Jedi Council Chambers</span>)). This allows you to use custom signatures on the wikis you edit most and have a fallback default for quick posts on other wikis. Note that the signature field in preferences is hard-limited to 255 characters, so the entire parser function, including all arguments, will need to fit into that limit, which will restrict how much formatting you can use in the fallback signature.

    • So I just had a brain fart. You can actually create a different subpage on the Community Central wiki and use that subpage as a template across all Wikia wikis (this only works for templates on Community Central, not anywhere else on Wikia). So create a subpage under a different title on Community Central, and put the code for substituting that as the second argument to the #ifexist function. The trick is how to get the interwiki template to work. You have to type it like this: Note the "w:" before the page name and the double colon after "subst"; do not change the double colon to a single colon or you will get an error message because it will try to find the template in the Template: namespace rather than simply using the page name as you entered it. So the full code that is now in my preferences is

Just change the template names to your own and make sure the /defaultsig (or whatever you choose to call it) page exists on Community Central, and you can then use a fallback signature that is as long as you want.

    • What a massive f@#! lode!!! I'll be working on it all in the duration of the next few days, it may take me some time to inhale this huge brain fart of yours (I hope you didn't damage yourself, he he).--MadMarek(Force Box) - "Doeth thee mother know you wearest her drapes?"
      • Hey MJ! Does this work okay.--MadMarek(Force Box) - "Doeth thee mother know you wearest her drapes?" 11:27, March 29, 2014 (UTC)
        • Line breaks are not permitted. Please make sure that your signature template contains no whitespace between the </noinclude> tag and the start of the signature code; any whitespace between them is considered a part of the template, and right now it's acting as a line break and is breaking indentation/bullets. Also, you are still transcluding your signature, which is still prohibited. Absolutely no templates can be transcluded to the page when you sign with ~~~~. Signing with ~~~~ must place the complete raw code of your signature onto the page. Other that those two issues that need to be fixed, your new signature is fine.

          • Is everything alright now. I just changed my sig page from a template to raw coding. As for the line break, I think I might have fixed it, but please take a look to make sure.--MadMarek(Force Box) - "Doeth thee mother know you wearest her drapes?" 10:12, March 31, 2014 (UTC)
            • Your signature is fine now. The line break was not completely fixed, but I finished the job for you. :) Note that since transclusion of signature templates is still not permitted, even after the signature has been fixed, I will be substituting your signature template both here and on my talk page (the only two talk pages where it is currently transcluded). Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. :)

Re:Userpage

If you give me credit, sure. :P As for Wookieepedia Pro, that was our April Fools' Day joke. If Pro existed, then you would still be seeing it on the main page. JangFett (Talk) 13:12, April 8, 2014 (UTC)

  • No problem. As for the award, you can always give them a Wookiee Cookie. JangFett (Talk) 16:28, April 9, 2014 (UTC)
    • I'll give you a high-five instead. :P To find the awards, you may take a look at our collection here. JangFett (Talk) 16:40, April 9, 2014 (UTC)
      • Rapid updating? I'm not sure what others are going to say, but I'm going to say no. Quality will be greatly diminished. JangFett (Talk) 12:06, April 10, 2014 (UTC)
        • I'd ask Cavalier for his opinion because he writes more GCW and Rebel-related articles. JangFett (Talk) 12:16, April 10, 2014 (UTC)

Project

In general, the idea is sound. WookieeProject:Ambition exists as an Imperial-focused one, so you might want to take cues from that. To be honest, though, if you're planning on doing a lot of it yourself, you don't really need templates and project pages. That should only be forthcoming if you get a few people interested in contributing. - Sir Cavalier of OneFarStar(Squadron channel) 22:27, April 12, 2014 (UTC)

  • Sorry for the late reply—yes, it's fine to start one. However, like what Cav said, if you're planning on doing everything by yourself then a project page is unnecessary. You have to have a clear focus and a set of project goals (it's important to mention these things in the project page) because no one will join a Rebel project just because it's a Rebel project. :P It's up to you, if you feel as if you could do it, then go ahead and be bold. JangFett (Talk) 14:04, April 24, 2014 (UTC)
    • Those are their own personal projects pages. JangFett (Talk) 13:37, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Project Page

The project page was a way for me to keep track of my work on The Far Orbit Project, and it was not a multi-user infinitive. Generally, if you want to try to get users together for a goal, you should try creating a Wookiee Project, but there can be other ways (BarnBurner). Hope that helps, 501st dogma(talk) 20:07, April 29, 2014 (UTC)

  • The namespace it would fall under would be something like this: Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Ambition. If you want to see how they are formatted, just click one of the examples here. 501st dogma(talk) 20:17, April 30, 2014 (UTC)
    • Yes, you can use one of those pages as your basic template for creating the new one. Just copy the main elements and use those on your page. 501st dogma(talk) 22:18, May 1, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Searching for a forum

I don't believe we have a forum for things related to games here on the Wook, so you'd probably have to go elsewhere on the Internet. Also, do you mean technical questions about Star Wars RPG games, or video games? If its RPGs, User:Cavalier One is quite the expert on RPGs, so he might be able to answer a question or two. Hope that helps, 501st dogma(talk) 13:15, November 20, 2014 (UTC)

  • If it's about KOTOR, Cav might not be able to help. However, User:Exiledjedi might be able to, as I believe he's knowledgeable with video games. 501st dogma(talk) 13:08, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Knights Of The Old Republic

Sorry, I thought I had responded to your question, but I guess I forgot to hit save when I edited your talk page. I don't have the collection, but to progress through the conversation in the original version I either clicked on the dialogue or pressed the number key for the number that was next to the line of dialogue I wanted the character to say. If this doesn't work, my guess would be that it is some sort of operating system/graphics card compatibility issue.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 14:55, December 12, 2014 (UTC)

Re: KOTOR question

Sorry, but I don't know much about this particular issue as I have the original release of the KotOR games and not the collection. If any fixes for this issue exist, you can probably find them with a Google search including something like "KotOR Collection dialog error" and your operating system. I'm afraid that is about all the help I can give you.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 14:57, January 17, 2015 (UTC)
