Adrialla

Hey there! Adrialla is only referred to as a regent rather than a regnant in Convergence, if you have an official source that says this is incorrect and she is indeed a regnant then please can you provide it? Thanks! Lewisr (talk) 04:11, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

  • Hey there! Here are two quotes which call Adrialla a regent, 'Queen Adrialla whispered from her seat. Her consort squeezed the regent's shoulders.' and 'The queen started to get up, but her consort placed a gentle hand on her regent's.' Please if you have an official source that says this is incorrect then please let me know. Otherwise we should leave the pages as is, thanks! Lewisr (talk) 05:51, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi! Respectfully, I don't think there is sufficient evidence that "Queen regent Adrialla" is proper. Regent means ruler, but queen regent means interim ruler as opposed to queen regnant (which means permanent). Whenever her full name is written it is as "Queen Adrialla" so that is the most proper way to refer to her in the context of this article. It is also the most consistent with other Wookiepedia articles Unsigned comment by LetsWaboJr (talk • contribs)

  • Perhaps it would be better to not say 'queen regent' but referring to her as a regent seperately is still valid per the source. I've made a slight adjustment, does that work with you? Lewisr (talk) 06:01, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Certainly an improvement however I think this will cause confusion as the canon article on "Regent" is mainly about pro tempore rulers, as is the definition. Regent and regnant are terms that are very often mixed up. Into the Dark properly uses the term regnant, I think the most likely explanation is that the Convergence author mistakenly used regent on two occasions instead of regnant. Given this, and given the fact that she is referred to as Queen Adrialla or the queen in the vast majority of situations, it would probably be best to leave the "regent" term out the article altogether. • Fair point, I've removed it from the page. Hopefully future sources may use the correct term but we'll have to wait and see Lewisr (talk) 06:10, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you so much for hearing me out! I'm glad we were able to resolve this. Have a good weekend! Unsigned comment by LetsWaboJr (talk • contribs)

  • And thank you! You have a nice weekend as well! Lewisr (talk) 06:14, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

RE: Odelia and Adrialla

Hi, there! Thanks for the heads-up! I reverted those additions and used the word "reigning" instead just to specify they were ones who reigned at the time. TanDivoInsignia-SenateMurders Anıl Şerifoğlu (talk) 00:03, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Regarding this, per Lewisr above referring to Adrialla as a regent when specifically not used in "queen regent [name]" is still accurate because it's used multiple times in the source, to refer to regent as a rank separate from queen (which in Star Wars, means many things). Anything that's attributable to a canon source is allowed to be present on pages, and since she is called a regent at multiple points throughout the book, removing it goes against policy of making a complete article. I'd suggest we take it to the Senate Hall for a wider discussion if we decide to make a one-off case of removing canonical information for this instance.spookywillowwtalk 00:11, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

  • Actually, to second this further, I would highly suggest taking it to Senate Hall to avoid another edit-war. Primarily, an issue here is the continued reversions resulting in violating 3RR. If a wider community discussion does want to remove said information, it can be voted on, but Star Wars definitions aren't always so strict as "real-world" ones when it comes to terms, and we shouldn't seek to step in authors' shoes to determine what is and isn't a mistake to disclude from articles (unless the editing community as a whole does rule it as a mistake, rather than done unilaterally).spookywillowwtalk 00:23, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
