Yularen and Stealth

Hey Tranner. I'm still working on the Gambit: Stealth update for Yularen, but I'd thought I'd bring up a few things here. First, I'm not entirely sure of the level of detail that you're looking for—I tend to be a little too detailed sometimes, so I'm trying to keep the perspective rather broad to keep the play-by-play parts out; feel free to adjust it to your liking. Also, I created a new section for the Stealth info, but if you want to merge it into some other section or move it somewhere else, that's fine; it just has to be after the Quell stuff. Additionally, there are several rather notable (or maybe not, but I'll leave you to decide that) passage in Stealth regarding his personality. I'm not sure what your plans are for his P&T, but I thought that I'd post them here for you to read over and see if there's anything worth noting.

Gambit: Stealth, page 5

  • "Around her [Tano], the bridge crew conducted its military business with brisk efficiency. No chatter, since the admiral [Yularen] was present. When Yularen was elsewhere his officers sometimes indulged in a little gossip, a few jokes, a smattering of idle wartime speculation. Nothing detrimental to discipline, nothing untoward, just harmless camaraderie to help while away the tedium of days, like this one, when battle was yet to be joined and the void beyond the transparisteel viewports remained empty of enemy ships and impending slaughter."

Gambit: Stealth, pages 74-75

"I didn't just speak to General Skywalker. I double-checked with the medic who treated you. Have you stopped yet to consider how much explosive force it takes to shatter transparisteel and puncture clone armor? No? I didn't think so. Therefore do please humor me, General. Ten minutes here or there won't make a difference to the Council."
"Admiral—your concern is appreciated, but frankly, I believe it's misplaced. I'm not quite sure why you and Anakin feel the need to—"
"Not quite sure? Since I know you're not a fool, sir, are you by any chance concussed?"
"No, I am not concussed. Admiral Yularen—"
"General Kenobi. While as a rule I find your modesty refreshing, in this instance I'm linclined to feel peeved. You, Master Jedi, are a valuable asset. Your skills are irreplaceable, your contributions to the Republic's war effort immeasurable. You do not have the right to treat your person lightly. What you have, sir, is an obligation to guard your health and well-being as though it were the health and well-being of our precious Republic's Supreme Chancellor. And if you so cavalierly refuse to do that, then you can hardly be astonished when those of us who aren't blind to your value make whatever arragements we deem necessary to keep you in one piece. Need I continue, or have I made my point?"
―Yularen and Kenobi[src]

There are a number of other minor excerpts throughout the book that are also relevant to his P&T, so you might have to end up reading the book to get all of them (sorry, since I'm not sure if you were planning to read it :P). I'm not sure how notable they are, but they're scattered throughout the book, and again, I'll leave you to decide whether or not to implement them into the P&T. I'd be happy to work on the P&T with you as well if you want, since I have access to most of the sources on him; I just don't want to step on your toes too much. If you need anything else, just let me know—I'll try to get to the Gambit: Siege update as soon as I get the book, though I'm admittedly not sure when that will be. CC7567 (talk) 05:19, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

  • Sure, no problem. I'll get working on the Siege update ASAP. CC7567 (talk) 17:08, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Tranner, I think that FotJ 9 being titled Apocalypse might be legit—Sue stated here that "Star Wars books" on Facebook announced the Plagueis novel and a new Allston Wraith squadron novel, apparently treating the Facebook page as official; and the same Facebook page also posted that the FotJ panel announced that FotJ 9 will be titled Apocalypse. The Goure fishmen

I'm a star wars sociopath and I'm pretty sure the Goures exist. I know it can't be fanon because iv'e heard from a star wars novel writer about a type of fish people. The dude obviously gave em a name but i can vouch that in any case, a star wars writer did invent them. They apeared in the senate i believe. Unsigned comment by Thronk (talk • contribs)

Fanon should be legal

Many fans feel that in a nutshell, what didn't happen in the movies does'nt exist and our god george Lucas wants us to think our own ideas about what happened after the battle of endor. Star wars was meant to be ambigous to the fan and whatever they feel could spice up the expanded universe, they should be allowed to give (IE) alternative stuff. Ummm by the way, is it possible to become a star wars novel writer. Is that a job lucas would allow just anyone to do. Unsigned comment by Thronk (talk • contribs)

About Puko Naga

This character, 'Puko Naga' was one of Jabba the Hutt's Nikto guards in the Clone Wars. The only reference to his name is on the card of Hasbro's Star Wars the Clone Wars action figure line, but there are many more images. I will send you a link to an Ebay seller who has an image of his name on the Hasbro's action figure packaging.

http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=1330690&image=401648755&images=401648744,401648755,401648767,401648779,401648791&formats=0,0,0,0,0&format=0

I only thought I could help Wookieepedia by contributing about this character, but seeing as I haven't been used to editing pages, or creating them in this case, mistakes may happen (undiliberately). Because I am not used to editing I am not sure what it would be classed as, Canon, Fanon, Non-Canon, so please forgive me if it is still Fanon or Non-Canon. Sorry Though if it is. Hi! Just letting you know that the wording of a ct you've recently voted in has changed slightly. It went from 'If a droid has gender-specific programming, refer to them as "he" or "she" rather than "it".' to 'If a droid has gender-specific programming and is predominantly referred to as "he" or "she" in canon, refer to them as "he" or "she" rather than "it".' Very minor tweak. Let me know if you hate it. Menkooroo 05:19, August 30, 2010 (UTC)

There is no other mention of this being. SoresuMakashi suggested not to assume it, and to ask the opinion of AC members. Dod's New Battlefronts info

Hey Tranner. Since I'm assuming you haven't gotten the info on Dod yet from New Battlefronts, I'd thought I'd get it for you right now since I have the book handy.

  • Lott Dod: Lott Dod is the Trade Federation's Senator who continues to serve on Coruscant despite the fact that everyone knows he is a high-ranking Separatist. Dod does his part to keep up this fiction, retreating to Cato Neimoidia to do business with his fellow Separatists away from the eyes of Republic Intelligence and other spies.
  • Cato Neimoidia: Cato Neimoidia is a purse-world of the greedy Neimoidians who dominate the Trade Federation. The lush planet is reserved for their wealthiest nobles. Sitting in their luxurious palaces, they plot to destroy the Republic. While the Republic has been battered by the war, Neimoidians have suffered too. They have signed over much of their wealth to Banking Clan nobles, such as Clovis, who use it as collateral for loans to build new armies and warships that Count Dooku requires for the war.
  • The Senator's Scheme: When Clovis impulsively brings Padmé to Cato Neimoidia, Lott Dod slips her poison. His plan is to trade Clovis the antidote in exchange for better terms on the Banking Clan's loan. It's a perfect scheme: If Clovis accepts, Dod saves credits. If he declines, an old enemy of the Trade Federation dies.
  • Credit Crisis: Many in the Banking Clan and other megacorporations support the Separatists. But although they take orders from Dooku, the corporations are vital to the galactic economy, and so the Senate reluctantly looks the other way and ignores their treasonous acts.

Let me know if you need anything else. CC7567 (talk) 18:42, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Please Respond

Sir, I have left several messages in your talk page regarding an issue that is of concern to me, and yet have received no response. I would very much appreciate acknowledgement of the aforementioned issue, and so there is no misunderstanding regarding that issue, allow me to explain in full:

Recently, I have attempted to make a revision to the article concerning Imperial rank badges. This revision is as follows:

The "Merit" Theory

Though various media have established that the purpose of the chest badges is to signify rank, in most real-life militaries, badges placed on the front of a uniform coat instead signify awards and merits, with rank insignia displayed elsewhere. If this were the case for the Empire, it would explain in much simpler terms the large body of inconsistencies between various sources regarding the relationship between spoken ranks, actual command status, and chest badges.

For example, Admirals Motti and Piett wear widely differing insignia, yet are both established as holding the military rank of Admiral. If the chest badges on their respective uniforms represent rank, confusion ensues and a complex explanation must be given for the obvious differences in the configuration of their chest badges. However, if these were to signify awards and merits rather than rank, no explanation would be necessary as the two men would obviously have earned different sets of commendations during their individual services.

Similarly, there are a number of instances where individuals of widely varying ranks – for example “Commander” Daine Jir and “Lieutenant” Shann Childsen – wear the same chest badges. It is possible that two individuals of differing ranks would have earned the same commendations, and this seems much more likely than two individuals of differing ranks would wear the same rank insignia.

The only problem with this is deciphering the orientation of badges as they relate to awards and merits. Red, yellow, and blue are at present the only colors seen in Imperial chest badges, so it seems unlikely that each color would stand for a different award: this would mean that the Empire only awarded three varieties of commendation. Rather, it seems more likely that the chest insignia as a whole represents a specific combination of awards instead of each component representing each individual commendation. Assuming this is correct, the specific combinations can probably be analyzed based on:

  • Amount of total colored squares in badge
  • Ratio of colors in badge
  • Number of colors present
  • Which colors are present
  • Spacing between colored squares

(end)

Now, I see no reason why that should be removed and classified as fan fiction. It does not assume that anything is true or make any claims that suppose this, it only presents an alternate theory to a long-debated and very confusing issue. Like I said before, I would appreciate a response and will be expecting a detailed response on my talk page soon.

Triloh1138 23:13, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

Thoery

So then you're saying that all speculation is fan fiction? In that case, there are quite a few articles that need to be looked over, including that one, and a great many things that need to be changed and/or removed. My Merit Theory is only a speculation like many other instances of speculation here on Wookieepedia.

Triloh1138 23:20, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

I concede

Roger that, sir.

I'm not above conceding defeat when appropriate. Hats off to you, Commander. But besides the fact that the theory came out of my own head and not out of the pages of a published medium, what do you think of the theory itself? Is it plausible?

Triloh1138 23:28, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

Considering Garqi...

Is it not logical to assume that Garqi was reclaimed by the Galactic Alliance after the Yuuzhan Vong War? I mean, caf is a very central and valuable commodity in the Star Wars galaxy. Granted, I don't know what the Chazrach breeding operation actually did to Garqi's terrain, but I still think there would be some caf-growing capacity there. If you really don't think that this theory pans out, fine, but I'd still like to think there was life for Garqi after the NJO. MillieMuddFan67 21:22, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

Should we create a new category: Yuuzhan Vong Empire worlds? I mean, there were a LOT of planets conquered by the Vong.
