Tales anthologies changes to timeline of media
Please do not remove legitimate content from the Timeline of media. I noticed that you were consistent in removing Tales anthology content that had not been printed elsewhere, but that is not the point of the Timeline of media. It is a place where every story can be placed in the correct relative position to the rest of the canon. Each of those anthology stories has a timeline placement that is distinct from the rest of the anthology. For example, One Last Night in the Mos Eisley Cantina: The Tale of the Wolfman and the Lamproid is set at the Battle of Endor, with flashbacks/time travel to other places, not in 0 BBY like Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina; A Boy and His Monster: The Rancor Keeper's Tale opens prior to the Battle of Yavin, not in 4 ABY like other stories from Tales from Jabba's Palace; and Simple Tricks opens after Kyp Durron's redemption, not in 5 ABY as the Tales from the New Republic is listed.
In my opinion, and something I am working out now with Jabba's Palace, the anthologies don't really belong in the Timeline of Media, but should rather have each individual short story listed in order to have a more comprehensive and accurate timeline.

- The point of the Timeline of media is not to have every publication listed, but to have every distinct story listed in in-universe chronological order, a one-stop shop for figuring out where a story falls in the chronology. This has been the intent from the beginning, as seen here, here, here and here. The "Tales" anthologies should definitely be split up in the Timeline of short stories, and each anthology should be listed in the Timeline of books, but the Timeline of media is a comprehensive list of each of the other timelines, and to be the most accurate, should list the stories individually. Listing just the Anthology deprives the timeline of a great deal of information. As an example, the Star Wars Tales comics have never been printed individually, but are placed on this timeline as separate individual entities. Muscle6386 (talk) 17:07, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

- The question that will be asked is whether that page is necessary or just a needless duplication of information that can be found elsewhere (Timeline of media). Redundancy is frowned on, in general. I did see a project one user started last year that had a version of the Timeline of media that allowed you to select which media types to display, allowing you to filter down to just the ones you wanted. I think it petered out, though. If you want to continue with this idea, come up with a strong justification for it, get some more discussion on it, and perhaps create a sandbox page to test it. - I've picked up most of what I know about the wiki code by looking at how it's been done other places. Just takes time and some practice. As for your timeline idea, I'm not trying to shoot you down. I'm just letting you know that the burden of proof is on you to convince the editing community of the value of another timeline. Muscle6386 (talk)
