Welcome, Amaran Apprentice!Hello and welcome to Wookieepedia. I hope you like the place and choose to join our work. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Wookieepedia aspires to be a reliable source for all Star Wars fans to read and draw information from, and as such, fan-created continuity and fan fiction are not allowed within our articles. All in-universe material must be attributable to a reliable, published source. Please do not remove talk page and forum comments, as they are part of the public record. Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Senate Hall, visit our official IRC channel, or ask one of our administrators. May the Force be with you! |
Sourcing
Hey, AA! I noticed you made a few edits today and they got reverted (basically, removed). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anyone who reverted you explained why, which can be frustrating. I think part of the reason things got reverted was because you didn't add a source for your edits. For example, on Inch, you said that inches are rarely used in Star Wars because most units are metric. This is no doubt true, but because you didn't provide a reference for your addition, someone removed the information. So, in other words, I just wanted to make sure you knew so your contributions will be kept in the future. I hope you enjoy Wookieepedia and decide to stay! :) ~ SavageBob 02:28, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the time to explain :) As you can probably tell, I'm new not only to Wookieepedia, but Wiki-editting in general. There is a lot of stuff I still don't understand or know how to do. Anyway, thanks for pointing it out and I'll try to source things better in the future. - Don't sweat it. :) Wiki markup is a bit tricky to get the hang of, but after a bit of trial and error, you should be fine. The links above (with the Wookiees next to them) are a good place to start your tutorial of how we work around here. Another good idea would be to practice editing in the Wookieepedia:Jundland Wastes to get a feel for wiki markup in an environment where no one will yell at you if you do something wrong. Then again, there's always the old "learn by doing" adage. In other words, don't be afraid to fix typos, fix factual errors, and other small things. Once you feel confident enough, try to write an article on something that is currently a red link (meaning we don't have an article for it yet) or try to expand a smaller article into something bigger. And feel free to ask questions; that's what us old-timers are here for. :0 ~ SavageBob 05:28, November 6, 2010 (UTC)
- A good part of my meager edit count is actually little grammatical or spelling errors or linking to major pages that someone may have missed. I could do a lot more if I had my collection of Star Wars comics and such, but that all got left behind when college rolled around XD. Much obliged for the info and thanks again for welcoming a newbie like me. Amaran Apprentice 1:32 November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Linking
Hey there! Please note that there is no need to link a subject twice, like you did in Subjugator-class heavy cruiser—everything should be linked once in the introduction and once in the main body. Cheers. 1358 (Talk) 20:40, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that. I assume it was Malevolence I linked twice. I had seen, on other articles, a certain subject linked multiple times so I assumed it was okay. I will make the correction immediately if it hasn't been addressed already. Once again, I apologize and thank you for bringing this to my attention Amaran Apprentice 20:43, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was referring to the Malevolence. If you see an article with a subject linked more than once, feel free to remove the link. :) 1358 (Talk) 20:50, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
- I'll be sure to do so if I notice :) Amaran Apprentice 20:52, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Republic credit ingot
You can find instructions for merging here. Moon Demon 02:00, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
- Alright. Glad I could kind of help. :) Moon Demon 03:52, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Names
It's always best to use surnames after referring to a character for the first time; there isn't an official policy in place for it, but it's an extremely widely used clause, and it's more formal that way. Hope that helps. CC7567 (talk) 02:02, January 24, 2011 (UTC)
