  • Additionally, please stop removing perfectly legitimate sourced information from Wookieepedia's articles. This may be construed as vandalism if you continue. Thank you. Toprawa and Ralltiir 00:02, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
  • What are you talking about? Are you saying that all "perfectly legitimate sourced information" is somehow more canon than the films?12seraph 05:10, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
    • Welcome to the Wookieepedia, 12seraph! In answer to your question, I refer you to the Wookieepedia policy on canon which will show you what George Lucas has stated regarding the order of canon, and that which is followed on this site. You might also read through the Tutorial before making any further edits to pages, so you can know what could construed as vandalism and therefore avoid doing it inadvertently. As to accuracy of information on this site that "irks" you (as you make mention on your profile page), this site follows the rubric that Lucasfilm defines per Leeland Chee, the continuity database administrator for the Lucas Licensing arm of Lucasfilm. He is the one who keeps careful track of not just the six films, but also the cartoons, TV specials, video games, reference books, and hundreds of novels and comics. Therefore, if you have issues with discrepancies or inconsistencies, or have other questions regarding Star Wars continuity, you can send your questions to him at the email listed on his page. All right, the canon policy says that "As long as a piece of information comes from a canon source and is not contradicted by a higher source, it is accepted as canon." Many of the dimensions and schematics provided on these pages contradict what is shown in the films, the latter being a higher canon source. So why are they there? If information from a secondary source contradicts the film, regardless of how reliable the source is, doesn't that mean that the secondary information is non-canon? 12seraph 20:25, November 18, 2011 (UTC)

  • Alright, you're a movie purist and a fleet junkie. We get it. We have seen dozen of your kind here throughout the years. Give it up, you are not going to change anyone's mind (and you certainly won't change how Wookieepedia deals with canon). --Imperialles 20:30, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
    • But that's the thing. This is a Star Wars Wiki! Shouldn't everyone put the movies first? 12seraph 23:25, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
      • Welcome to Star Wars continuity 101. If you were to accept visual and aural sources as canon over written, then you would begin having conflict over many things in the Star Wars films. For instance, Vader suddenly put his red lightsaber away after his battle with Obi-Wan and whipped out a new white lightsaber. However, we on this wikia understand from official sources that there was no change in equipment Vader made, but that in AnH, his saber was always red. Let's look at Wedge Antilles. You would have to accept that he was able to inexplicably change and rearrange the shape of his face right before the Battle of Yavin, because Colin Higgins was replaced by Denis Lawson, the actors that portrayed him. The reason the two actors sound like they have the same voice, by the way, is because they do—Wedge's voice was dubbed by the same voice actor, David Ankrum, for both Higgin's and Lawson's parts. Here's where official continuity picks and chooses: Film canon establishes that Wedge said "That's impossible," when responding on the chances of hitting the exhaust port; written canon overrides the film canon in establishing that Wedge in Red 2 was the same person at the briefing. Our policy on this site is to adhere to the Official Continuity of the Lucasfilm Database. Leeland Chee (hired by Lucas to keep track of his own story as well as those of others in the EU) is the keeper of that and he is the one you should take any these issues with canon or continuity that you have. As far as our site, if you have an official source that is most recently supporting "a certain point of view" (I liked being able to put that in there ;) then you may edit the article and reference the information using a cite tag that links to the official source. George says that both actors are Wedge. If you have questions about what are considered official sources and how to use them in an article, please look through the following site guides: Wookieepedia:Attribution, Wookieepedia:Sourcing, and Wookieepedia:Reliable sources.
