Ur-greedles were a type of six-winged creature found on the planet Geonosis in the Outer Rim Territories. Cousins of the sentient insectoid Geonosians who were native to the world, the ur-greedles were shorter and stouter versions of their relatives.[1] Around 9 BBY, the Galactic Empire sterilized Geonosis,[2] wiping out all but one of the Geonosians there.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, ur-greedles were mentioned in "Geonosis and Other Planets in the Outer Rim," a part of the Star Wars Encyclopedia series released by De Agostini[1] on November 23, 2021.[3] The section mentioning ur-greedles[1] was written by Mark Newbold.[4] The creatures originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were mentioned in Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds, a 2004 supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game produced by Wizards of the Coast.[5]
