- «The base is an orbiting weapons platform—you can't see it because it's on the far side of the planet. But it's there, and it's horribly powerful and dangerous. If you don't stop those fighters before they can sound the alert, neither your people nor mine will ever see another moonrise.»
- ―Captain Fsir
An Unknown Regions planet located within a star system was the location of the fictitious Vagaari pirate base according to Watith Captain Fsir.[1] Around 18 BBY,[2] the captain was hired to attack the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk by the Grysk operative "Jixtus,"[3] Fsir brought the cruiser to the world by telling its commander, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn," that the Vagaari base was located there.[1]
After arriving over the world, Watith gunboats attacked the Springhawk in hopes of delaying or destroying it. Although Fsir had informed Thrawn that an orbital weapons platform was located on the world's far side, and that they would alert it of the heavy cruiser's arrival, the Chiss knew that the Watith was lying, and disabled Fsir's Saltbarrel freighter. After disabling it with ship–disabling plasma spheres, the gunboats went dormant, confirming Thrawn's theory that Captain Fsir was controlling them. The Springhawk left the planet after capturing all Watith warships and the Saltbarrel.[1]
Behind the scenes
The planet appeared in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, written by Timothy Zahn as part of The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]

- ↑ The events of Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good take place around 18 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines. As the attack on the Springhawk carried out by Fsir took place during the novel's main events, and "Jixtus" hired Fsir to do so after he learnt about Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo's tactical abilities before the Hoxim incident, which was preceded by the Watith attack, Jixtus must have hired the Watith around 18 BBY.
