A species of parasitic organism was found in the starship, Gorgorror. The species developed in the warmest parts of the ship, and could be found clustered on the walls. They were a few decimeters in diameter and had a dozen tentacled appendages with retractable hooks distributed around a rudimentary digestive orifice. They would parasitize numerous species by dropping onto their prey and releasing pseudopods into their host organism to extract essential nutrients. The parasites would slowly develop and increase, and eventually alter their host to the point where a monstrous hybrid called a Biotic is created. The Biotics would wander the passageways of the ship in search of food, and would eventually split into about ten polymorphic clusters where new parasites would be reborn from.[1]
