This species was a sentient species that existed in the galaxy. The humanoid species was distinguished by their distinctive masks which possessed an almost beak-like shape, as well as a curved protrusion extending upwards from their cranial area.[1] In 9 BBY,[2] a member of species attempted to apprehend a young Leia Organa on the planet Daiyu before being shot in the back by Jedi-in-hiding Obi-Wan Kenobi.[3] In 35 ABY,[4] another member of this species was present on the planet Pasaana during the Festival of the Ancestors.[1]

Behind the scenes

The species made their debut in the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, directed by J.J. Abrams.[1] This species was originally designed by concept artist Jake Lunt Davies,[5] and was referred to by the production code "Wizard 54."[6] Davies personally considers the individuals who appear in both The Rise of Skywalker and Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi to be one in the same,[7] though it is unclear if the one in the latter survived being shot by Obi-Wan, which takes place earlier on the timeline.[8]
