"They're not mountains at all. They're living creatures. Hibernating offshore. They're massive living beasts! And they're rich in the Force. More than anyone or anything I've ever felt."
―Reath Silas[1]

A type of leviathan creature was found on the planet Tolis. Larger than mountains, the leviathans were immensely strong in the Force. The creatures were ancient, existing before the rise of the native Tolemites and outlasting the species' extinction; Jedi Knight Reath Silas suspected they were the cause of the Tolemites' Force-based religion. After the Tolemites' civilization was destroyed in a flood, the leviathans hibernated in the ocean off the shores of Tolis's islands.[1]

During the High Republic Era, Silas and the former Jedi Master Cohmac Vitus visited Tolis to learn about the Force-draining Nameless creatures and the blight. The pair spotted the leviathans, assuming the creatures were mountains, though Silas eventually learned the truth. Silas, assisted by Vitus and Jedi Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo, later reached out to one of the leviathans, hoping it would assist by distracting a Nameless that was pursuing them. The leviathan awoke, and the Nameless, as Silas had hoped, attempted to feed on it. As the Nameless climbed up the leviathan, the larger creature returned back to the sea.[1]
