Calum Alexander Watt (@calumalexanderwatt) on Instagram (post on May 25, 2020): "From The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Costume concept art for Kijimi crowd, Big Collar 2018. Creature design by Ivan Manzella. Alternate options for same creature. We were given full access to most of the sets on TRoS and it's a great help to visit and experience the environment the characters will be inhabiting. By the time this design came about, Kijimi set was almost done and set-dressed, a rack of alien fish inspired this hunter type. Perhaps this is a native of Kijimi? The collar here a section of a giant tusk maybe? The scrimshaw carve-work sharing the same typography as Zorii and her gang. The creature department would create prosthetics and the collar for this creature so it needed to be incorporated into the costume. The chosen version was taking the concept of John Mollo padding to the extreme! The collar did change to a more angular version, and this guy can be seen in Zorii's bar walkthrough. I'm glad they kept the uplighting in the collar! #StarWars #TheRiseOfSkywalker #costumedesign #concept #conceptart" (backup link)
