"I need someone who can help me buy a battle droid."
"For Akiva's smallest battle droid army?"
"For personal protection. I'll give you the funds and a little extra for yourself/ Call it a service fee."
"If you got the money, why do you need someone to buy it for you?"
"The Hutts dominate the droid market on Akiva. With my position in the government I can't be seen buying from them."
―Government official to Kay Vess[1]

A human member of Crimson Dawn posing as a government official for the Satrapy on the jungle planet Akiva[1] in 3 ABY.[2] They had tan skin, brown eyes and gray hair[1] During 3 ABY,[2] they looked to by a battle droid for personal security and surveillance. In order to hide their purchase they asked around The Alcazar cantina in Myrra to find a middle person to make the actual purchase from a droidsmith in the Hutt Cartel district.[1]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars Outlaws. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

They eventually started a conversation with an offworlder named Kay Vess, while she was in The Alcazar, who agreed to make the purchase. The official gave Vess 400 credits and the coordinates to deliver the droid. Vess then headed to the Hutt district of the city where she approached a Rodian droidsmith to arrange for the purchase of a DL-2 line droid which cost a hundred more credits than Vess was given. After completing the purchase, Vess met with the official again near the Myrra Spaceport where she was paid the 100 credit difference as well as another 100 credits as a service fee. During the meeting Vess realized that the droid was being equipped with monitoring tech and confronted the official about not actually being part of the government. They confirmed Vess's suspicion and admitted to being part of Crimson Dawn who was looking to surveil the actual government.[1]

Behind the scenes

The official appeared as part of the "Government Business" intel quest in the 2024 video game, Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. If the player has an excellent reputation with the Hutt Cartel when purchasing the droid they will be able to get the droid for free instead of paying the 500 credits. After completing the quest the player's reputation with the Crimson Dawn will increase.[1]
