This species made their first in-universe appearance in the Return of the Jedi – Lando 1 one-shot,[1] which released on May 3, 2023. The issue's illustrator, Álvaro López,[3] revealed that the species was inspired by a popular alien concept[4] designed by Aaron McBride and utilized by additional artists such as Adam Brockbank[5] and Roberto F. Castro to fill Canto Bight environment concepts.[6]
