A species that existed in the galaxy. This bipedal humanoid sentient species was distinguished by the row of horns that extended from their forehead up and over the top of their craniums.[1] By 138 ABY,[2] a member of this species served as a Sith Lord among the One Sith and Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire, defeated and left to die that year on the planet Daluuj after a confrontation with Cade Skywalker and his allies.[1]
Behind the scenes
This species first appeared in the 2010 comic book Legacy (2006) 48, written by both John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, illustrated by the latter.[1] Duursema had originally posted on an online message board in 2012 that she had intended for this Sith to be a Human with spike implants grafted on his skull, stating it as fact,[3] though this was eventually overruled when Leland Chee revealed in Discord that he treats this individual as a horned alien within the Holocron continuity database.[4][5]

Question for John or Jan regarding Legacy #48 by Jan Duursema on Dark Horse Message Boards (June 26, 2012): "That Sith was human--with a lot of tats and some spike implants on his skull." (original site is defunct)

Leland Chee (@.holocronkeeper) in Wookieepedia's Discord server (December 1, 2025): "MANITOBAN was the production codename for anything related to Black Mask. Vidara Jurness has a species name but I don't know if it was ever published. Ayo Bons does not yet have a species name though I keyword that species as "spike mohawk." There was a similar unnamed character of what I assume is that species in the old Legacy comic series. I have a Holocron entry that tries to track "horn, spike, and plate-headed species" in the hopes that I can avoid naming a species twice." (message link) (screenshot) (In response to: "Hello @HolocronKeeper, back with what feels like my now-monthly species-related question that you may be able to shed some light on. We've seen this mysterious title crop up randomly across various places, in reference specifically to members of the Black Mask. "Manitoban" has been used by Bart Mixon in at least 3 different social media posts to refer to Ayo Bons, and some weird licensed Star Wars NFT someone discovered refers to Vidara Jurness as a Manitoban as well. Is this possibly like a species name for either of them that was accidentally applied to both, or maybe the original name for the Black Mask used in production, or just something totally different? I know Manitoban can also refer to IRL Manitoba in Canada as well, but from what I can tell, neither actor here is associated with that location, so I'm honestly at a loss.")

Leland Chee (@.holocronkeeper) in Wookieepedia's Discord server (December 1, 2025): "It's a Sith with a black ponytail in Legacy Extremes." (message link) (screenshot) (In response to: "Very good to finally have an answer, thank you as always! Guess I'll start digging through Legacy to try and pinpoint exactly which individual you're referring to, and cool to know unidentified comic species from back then still have a chance of being named/resurfacing someday. I'll let you know if for some reason I can't find it, and look forward to sending you another of my niche species questions probably next year lol!")
