"The Jedi's corvette is signaling us again."
"We have nothing to say to Averross!"
"It's the other one, Qui-Gon Jinn."
―A comms officer and Queen Fanry[1]

A comms officer served the Pijali monarchy's royal fleet on the Inner Rim planet Pijal during the Republic Era. They and a weapons officer worked together while aboard the Righteous, the then-recently renamed flagship of the Pijali fleet.[1]

In 40 BBY,[2] the comms officer was present on the Righteous following the coronation of Pijal's Queen Fanry. Once Fanry had assumed command over the flagship, she ordered the vessel to attack the Czerka Corporation cruiser, the Leverage. The comms officer informed their queen that the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was attempting to contact them via hologram. After accepting the call, Jinn told Fanry and her crew that the enslaved workers aboard the Leverage were attempting to revolt against Czerka. The Jedi implored them to tap into Czerka's intraship communications, which the comms officer did without waiting for Fanry's command. Shortly after, the queen's attendant, Cady, held Fanry at blaster point until she surrendered, unwilling to let the monarch harm the enslaved workers seeking their freedom.[1]

Behind the scenes

The comms officer appeared in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel written by Claudia Gray.[1]
