A Chiss male served as Patriarch of the Xodlak family, one of the Forty Great Families of the Chiss Ascendancy, during the Nikardun campaigns. The Patriarch managed the Xodlak family's affairs from their homestead on the Chiss homeworld and capital planet of Csilla.[1]
Councilor Xodlak'uvi'vil of Redhill province, Celwis attempted to reach the Patriarch to authorize annexation of a planet supposedly rich in the valuable metal nyix for the Xodlak family; believing an abundant and undefended nyix mine warranted the Patriarch's attention.[1]
Eventually, Senior Captain Irizi'in'daro (core name "Lakinda") led a Xodlak task force to try to seize a purported nyix mine on Hoxim for her family. The mine was fake, but the Patriarch still personally castigated her for failing to secure its nyix for the Xodlak. Lakinda, a Xodlak merit adoptive, feared being detached from the Xodlak family and rematched to her original family. Instead, however, Irizi family Syndic Irizi'stal'mustro "Zistalmu" offered her a position as a Trial-born of the Irizi, a Chiss Ruling Family.[1]

The Xodlak Patriarch was mentioned in Timothy Zahn's 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, the second book of Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
