"There's a plant that grows on Kashyyyk called rillrrnnn. It has a nice snap to it when served raw, but this Wookiee told me—via his translatin' vocoder—how his clan wraps rillrrnnn spears in thin strips of cured meat and a soft dough made from Kashyyykian grains."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

A clan of Wookiees produced the dish known as rillrrnnn spears by wrapping spears of the plant rillrrnnn in thin strips of meat and soft dough made from grains from the Wookiee homeworld, Kashyyyk, before seasoning and baking them. While he was on Kashyyyk as part of a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs was approached by an annoyed member of the clan who wished to complain about the lack of a rillrrnnn spears recipe in Tuggs'[1] second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook,[3] which was released at some point after his first cookbook[3] in 34 ABY.[4] The clan member used a vocoder to describe his clan's recipe for the dish, which Tuggs then included, along with a mention of the clan, in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which he published[1] in 35 ABY.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Wookiee clan was mentioned in the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
