"I'm Amidala..."
―The Theed civilian, to Padmé Amidala[1]

A civilian of Theed was one of Padmé Amidala's many decoys. During the 32 BBY Naboo crisis, Queen Amidala and her forces went to the Gungan Sacred Place to seek an audience with Boss Rugor Nass, leader of the Gungan community. During this audience, the civilian was one of many individuals to claim to be Queen Amidala before Padmé finally revealed herself. This audience was successful and the Gungans agreed to assist the Naboo in the upcoming battle. Later, during the Battle of Naboo, the Civilian and several Naboo Royal guards posed a diversion as Amidala and Captain Panaka confronted Viceroy Nute Gunray at Theed Royal Palace, posing as the real queen to get Gunray's battle droids to chase her[1] and her guards. This allowed Padmé to apprehend Gunray with little resistance.[1]

In 22 BBY Padmé, now a Senator of Naboo after her terms as Queen ended, returned to Coruscant to vote on the creation of a Republic army in light of the Separatist Crisis. The civilian acted as Amidala's decoy, being transported to Coruscant in Amidala's J-type diplomatic barge while Padmé disguised herself as a pilot. Arriving on Coruscant the Theed civilian descended down the ramp, only to be injured by a bomb planted by Zam Wesell. Padmé briefly went to her before continuing to the senate building.[1]

Personality and traits

The theed civilian had light skin. She was bald with a grey and white beard. While under cover as Amidala she would be prone to exaggerated body movements. When bombed by Wesell, she continued to claim to be Amidala, possibly due to either dedication to the part or delirium.[1]

Skills and abilities

While her regular appearance and voice would usually bear little resemblance to Padmé Amidala, the civilian was able to mimic Amidala's voice perfectly on at least one occasion.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Theed Civilian first appeared in the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones story modes of the 2022 non-canonical video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. She was briefly voiced by Catherine Taber as she approached Coruscant in Amidala's ship and voiced by an uncredited voice actor on all other occasions.[1] The civilian takes on Sabé's role during the Battle of Naboo[1][2] and Cordé's role during the bombing of Padmé's ship.[1][3]
