An operative of the reconstituted Sith Empire faked his death to escape Imperial service while working undercover on Jocal Four[1] by 3643 BBY.[2]
Around that year,[2] an individual associated with one of the opposing sides in the Cold War between the Empire and the Galactic Republic sent a companion of theirs to investigate the missing agent's disappearance. The companion discovered that the operative had faked his death to escape the Empire and retrieved his mission notes.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Imperial operative was mentioned in the Crew Skill mission "Missing Operative" in the 2011 BioWare video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.[1]

Star Wars: The Old Republic — Investigation Crew Skill mission: "Missing Operative"
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Per the reasoning here, Act I of Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place around 3643 BBY. Since players of The Old Republic can assign their companions on the mission "Missing Operative" independently of the main class storyline at any point during the game, the mission must take place at some point around 3643 BBY.
