- "Look, I know it's a lot to ask…and I know what the Path says about you…but I've heard the legends…how you help people…how you do the impossible…You can do this, Master Jedi. I know you can. We believe in you!"
- ―The Path of the Open Hand member to Vildar Mac
A member of the Path of the Open Hand cult was saved by Jedi Master Vildar Mac when the Path's healing house on the moon Jedha exploded during the Battle of Jedha[1] in 382 BBY.[2] Mac used The Force to hold up pieces of the healing house in order to prevent the Path member and others from being crushed. While Mac held up the rubble, the individual told Mac that they believed in him because he knew what he and the Jedi were capable of, hoping to motivate him to use the Force to make more room for an Aleena to crawl out and get help. Mac told them in response that when he was a child a bad man came to his village and did terrible things, but then the Jedi arrived and saved him. That Jedi, Larti became his master and believed in him. Mac continued saying that Larti had told him not to always followed the rules, but added that he thought rules were important and kept people safe.[1]
Just as Mac was unable to hold the rubble any longer, the Guardians of the Whills and Jedi padawan Matthea Cathley arrived and began to lighten his load with the Force. Cathley, Mac, the Guardians of the Whills, and the Path member all began chanting the Guardian's Mantra, which mustered just enough power to lift and move the rubble away completely, freeing all those in danger.[1]
