Description
A Mon Calamari holodrama existed during the High Republic Eraand told the story of a Mon Calamari guardsman who ran away with a princess.[2]
History
Shenrick, the third son of the Mon Calamari monarch, and his lover Ghal Tarpfen, a Captain Third Class of the Mon Calamari Guard, enjoyed the holodrama, comparing it to their own story. However, after Shenrick became king when his older siblings and parent were killed in an accident, he spurned Tarpfen, firing her from the Guard and marrying someone else. Both kept the relationship secret, as knowledge of it could ruin both of them as well as Tarpfen's low-class family.[2]
Tarpfen went on to serve the Galactic Republic, becoming the Head of Security of the Starlight Beacon space station. Around that time, the Nihil pirates became a threat to the galaxy. Viewing the station as a threat, the Nihil found out about Tarpfen's past and began a campaign of blackmail against her, sending her various holomessages related to her past, including the holodrama. Tarpfen, however, did not realize that someone was attempting to blackmail her until she received a hologram of a Nihil raider who ordered her to shut down security cameras in various corridors on the station during a night cycle, which she refused to do.[2]
