- "We were nervous at first, of course. This planet is obviously a center of production, but Xeebi and the others helped us understand that we're only here if we want to be, and that we can take our credits and go whenever we wish."
- ―The Mon Calamari
A Mon Calamari male escaped from slavery in the Outer Rim. He was brought to the planet Karlinus in the Chommell sector, where he automatically became a citizen. The Mon Calamari was nervous at first but the Rodian Xeebi helped him comprehend his new freedom.[1] In 22 BBY,[2] he shared his emancipation story over tea with representative Saché, who sought to understand the source of Karlinus's influx of workers. The two discussed how difficult moving on from trauma can be.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Mon Calamari appeared in Queen's Hope, a young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston[1] and published in 2022.[3]
