- "Having defeated the Ithullans in a war over a narcolethe distillery in 200 B.B.Y., the Mandalorians then went on to exterminate the entire Ithullan species. Unfortunately, the Jedi Council did nothing in response to the genocide, and several rogue Jedi allied with the Bounty Hunters' Guild to take down the ruling Mandalore."
- ―A Galactic Alliance historical document
An individual served as the Mandalore, the leader of[1] the Aka'liit faction of[2] the Mandalorian warrior culture, in the aftermath of the war of 200 BBY that saw the Mandalorians exterminate the sentient Ithullan species. After the Jedi High Council of the Galactic Republic's Jedi Order did not act in response to the genocide, a group of rogue Jedi made an alliance with the Bounty Hunters' Guild with the goal of taking down the reigning Mandalore of that time.[1]
Eventually, the Mandalorians' actions in the war against the Ithullans led to a schism among the Aka'liit that resulted in the rise of the True Mandalorian and Death Watch splinter factions[3] and, in 60 BBY, the mercenary Jaster Mereel becoming Mandalore representing the True Mandalorians.[4] The alliance against the Mandalore in the wake of the Ithullans' extinction was later noted in the 36 ABY galactic history chronicle by the Historical Council of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Mandalore was mentioned in the 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology by Daniel Wallace and Kevin J. Anderson.[1]
