«I assure you this landspeeder is brand new. It's the latest model… At your pleasure.»
―The ferryman attempts to reassure the Mandalorian before being paid extra — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

A gray-skinned male Kubaz worked as a ferryman on the ice[1] planet[2] Pagodon[1] around 9 ABY,[3] the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin approached the ferryman with a bounty he had captured in a nearby cantina, seeking transport to his gunship, the Razor Crest.[1]

The Kubaz summoned one of his newest landspeeders by playing the flute, but the Mandalorian rejected it as a droid piloted it. After Djarin gave the ferryman extra payment, the Kubaz played the flute once more, summoning an older speeder driven by a human pilot, which the Mandalorian accepted. The Kubaz wore a pair of goggles, a brown and gray jacket with a fur-lined hood, brown pants, red gloves, and black boots. He was able to play the flute.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Kubaz ferryman appeared in the first episode of the 2019 Disney+ television series Star Wars: The Mandalorian,[1] which aired on November 12, 2019.[4] He was portrayed by Christopher Bartlett.[1] The character's mask was made for the show by Tom Spina's design company, Regal Robot.[5] During development, the ferryman was going to be a Trandoshan.[6]
