A KX-series security droid served the Galactic Empire aboard an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer. After the Rebel Alliance protocol droid C-3PO was captured by the Empire and imprisoned aboard the Star Destroyer, the astromech droid R2-D2 boarded the vessel in an X-wing starfighter to rescue him, causing chaos aboard the Star Destroyer. During the chaos, Imperial stormtroopers, only aware that the damage was being caused by a droid, confronted the KX-series security droid. The security droid insisted that he was innocent, but a stormtrooper ordered his fellow troopers to shoot the droid regardless.[3]
