The holocron
A Jedi holocron[1] fulfilling the function of a map existed[2] at some point by 1000 BBY.[3] At one point, it was carried aboard a Jedi starfighter that crash-landed on the planet Ceriun. Although the mortally-wounded Jedi pilot of the starship requested that the local farmers who found him keep the holocron safe until another Jedi could retrieve it, the artifact was ultimately taken instead by a Sith who had arrived on Ceriun in search of the device.[2]

"All for You" — Star Wars Tales 17
- ↑ Although
"All for You" — Star Wars Tales 17 is nominally set "1,000 years before the Battle of Endor," which The New Essential Chronology dates to 4 ABY, that book and other sources such as The Essential Atlas also establish that the Sith, whose contemporary existence is depicted as public knowledge in "All for You," entered a millennium-long period of hiding in 1000 BBY. Therefore the events of "All for You" must be set at some point by that year.
