An HK-87 droid leader was in command of a unit of HK-87 assassin droids serving Witch Morgan Elsbeth. The droid had a dark grey photoreceptor and was painted in dark red. It carried an electrostaff and wore a tattered grey cloak.[2]

In 9 ABY,[1] the droids were sent to retrieve a star map depicting the Pathway to Peridea from a Nightsister stronghold on the planet Arcana, but instead encountered and ambushed former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano who had collected it herself. The leader stayed back while the four droids of the unit closed in on Tano and attempted to slash her with their electrostaffs, but the Jedi trapped them in the stronghold's basement by jumping inside and opening holes on the ceiling with her lightsabers. The leader then attacked her themselves, engaging in a brief duel, but Tano quickly overpowered and decapitated them. Following their leader's destruction, the four surviving droids activated their failsafe explosive charges, forcing Tano to run away to escape their detonation.[2]

Preceding episodes, also take place in that year, since they take place after Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, which is dated to 9 ABY according to Timelines. As "Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord" takes place shortly after Part Seven, the events of Ahsoka as a whole must all take place within the same year.
