A Chiss syndic represented the Chiss Ascendancy's Droc family in the Chiss Syndicure, the ruling body of the Ascendancy.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] the syndic served on a tribunal that investigated the actions of Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," during the attack on the Paataatus species. During the tribunal, Thrawn's commanding officer, Admiral Ar'alani, stated that officers of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet had levels of priorities in combat, causing the Droc syndic to ask her if the fleet operated as a "free-form melee."[1]

Behind the scenes

The syndic appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
