"We're Death Watch and we're here to rescue you."
―The soldier, to a Mandalorian Police Force member[3]

In 19 BBY,[4] a soldier was a human male member of a group of Mandalorians seeking to return to ways of violence and war known as the Death Watch. This particular soldier took part in a mission to Jabba's Palace and the takeover of Mandalore, among many of his fellow Mandalorians. Specifically, he led a group of Death Watch Warriors to liberate a group of imprisoned members of the Mandalorian Guard as one of numerous public stunts set up to allow Death Watch to win the people's favor.[1] After Pre Vizsla's death, this soldier welcomed Maul as the new Ruler of Mandalore,[3] but later defected to the Mandalore resistance led by Nite Owls leader Bo-Katan Kryze. He helped Obi-Wan Kenobi escape Maul's men so that Kenobi could inform the Galactic Republic of what had happened.[2]

Being a member of Death Watch, this soldier felt strongly that Mandalore had to return to its warrior-like ways, or it would fall.[1] As with all Death Watch members, the Mandalorian was bound by honor, and chose to side with an outsider when the Death Watch's former leader was killed.[3] Later, the soldier experienced doubt that he had made the correct decision, and defected to Bo-Katan Kryze's rebels.[2]

The Death Watch soldier was a human male, who also had a position of rank during his time in Death Watch, as he sported the Death Watch rank insignia on his shoulder pads, black markings on his helmet, and the stylized mythosaur logo on his chestplate.[1] He had light skin, blond hair, light blue eyes. He notably had a scar on his left cheek.[3]

This soldier wore the traditional and resilient combat armor of the Mandalorian warriors,[1] though in a significantly lighter shade. The warrior's helmet and jumpsuit were white, as opposed to the majority of the other Death Watch members, with the exception of Bo-Katan. His helmet was equipped with an antenna, while the uniform sported both a jetpack and a faded Death Watch rank insignia, verification that the soldier held an esteemed rank in the Death Watch.[1] In addition to his armor, the soldier wielded a pair of WESTAR-35 blaster pistols.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Death Watch Warrior first appeared in "Eminence," the fourteenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series fifth season,[5] which was released on January 19, 2013.[6] The Mandalorian was voiced by Dave Filoni, and credited as an enforcer.[1]

During a scene where the soldier helps a Quarren to his feet, another soldier using what appears to be the exact same model can be seen conversing with Bo-Katan Kryze.[1]
