An orbital defense platform was a Golan-II Defense Platform forming part of the planet Coruscant's orbital security net during the Imperial Era. It was controlled by the Naval Intelligence Agency and was equipped with multiple cannons to defend the Imperial capital from orbital assaults.[2] Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY[4] the platform was activated to repel a Rebel aerial assault on Coruscant, managing to take down an RZ-1 A-wing interceptor before the remainder of the rebel ships reached Coruscant's atmosphere. As the station's weapons were angled away from the planet to avoid stray shots hitting the surface, the platform was incapable of hitting them.[2]
